Girl Gone Viral by Alisha Rai is $2.99! Maya wrote a great review for this one and gave it a B-:
If you can handle some angst, some systemic oppression, and a distinct lack of totally justified vengeance, check out this slow burn romance between two damaged, but kind people of color who desire only each other and the safety of anonymity.

We don’t often do cover reveals at SBTB, but when we got a load of the cover for Alisha Rai’s October release, Partners in Crime , we knew we had to share. Before we get into the cover, here’s a description: Indian Matchmaking meets Date Night in this fun, romantic adventure by Alisha Rai — “One of the very brightest romance writers working right now.” (Entertainment Weekly) Mira Patel’s got a solid accounting career, good friends, … Continue reading Cover Reveal: Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai →
First Comes Like by Alisha Rai is $1.99! If you’ve been waiting for this to go on sale, now is your chance! Shana loved this one and gave it an A-:
My perfect pandemic read has enough drama to keep me guessing, but resolves conflicts before they stress me out. First Comes Like gave me everything I wanted, except for tips on moisturizing lipstick. Sadly, I’m still searching for my perfect shade. But if you’re looking for a trope-filled story with characters who overcome family expectations, First Comes Like was delightfully likable.

RECOMMENDED: The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai is $1.99! Maya read this one and gave is an A:
The Right Swipe is an amazing, well written story about two people of color falling in love as they come to terms with how the physical, psychological, and emotional traumas they experienced continue to affect them both. It was also, for me, a quiet little moment where I felt my existence was acknowledged.

It’s March! In New England, it’s been very cold and very windy. Not a fan. However, I’m also not the biggest fan of spring given my terribly allergies. But after March comes April, and you know what that means. The SBTB April Fool’s Day surprise! We’re working on something great. We hope you’ll love it as much as we do! … I am obsessed with this “fairy tale” village in the Bay Area. Does anyone … Continue reading Links: Animal Interviews, Romance Merch, & More →
I was initially skeptical of the newest installment in Rai’s Modern Love series. The main character, Jia, is a social media influencer who creates videos about make-up. I tend to avoid novels about models, and wasn’t sure that I was millennial enough to appreciate this romance. But First Comes Like might be my perfect pandemic read. It has a more lighthearted, fluffier tone than Girl Gone Viral, with a heroine whose thirstiness made me smile, … Continue reading First Comes Like by Alisha Rai →

The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading February 2021 New Releases, Part Two →
RECOMMEND: Hurts to Love You by Alisha Rai is $3.99! This is the third book in the Forbidden Hearts series. It’ll probably behoove you to read the previous books (the previous one is also on sale!), as this one does wrap up some things. Elyse wrote a Lightning Review for this one and gave it a B+.

It’s Wednesday! It’s happening again! Weird, right? In Amanda-town, it’s a cranky week where I frequently make bad sleeping decisions, like staying up past 2am to play video games. It’s like I’m in high school all over again! In more relevant news, I’m planning some awesome virtual romance events that you’ll find out about shortly. … Alisha Rai and her mom watched Indian Matchmaking on Netflix and then wrote about it for O, The Oprah Magazine. … Most … Continue reading Speeches, Laughing Until I Cried, & More →
RECOMMENDED: Wrong to Need You by Alisha Rai is $3.99! So many of Avon’s titles are $3.99 right now and I’m including a couple in this post. This is the notorious cat pee book. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read Elyse’s review:
I do not think I can possibly endorse Wrong to Need You more strongly than “it will make you forget you’re sitting in cat pee,” but if I could, I would, because this book is everything wonderful. It’s angsty and cathartic and sexy…
