For this month’s Stuff We Like, we’re headed down a very dangerous rabbit hole. Be ye warned! We’re talking about paper goods!
Stationery! Pens!
Notebooks!
ART SUPPLIES.
Please note: some of these links are affiliate-coded, which sends a portion of any purchase you make back to us at no extra cost to you. If you use them, spiffy! And if not, that’s cool, too. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
Let’s do this!
I try to send friends greeting cards, post cards, or something similar in the mail whenever I can, so I have a small supply of greeting cards and try to make sure I always have stamps in the house, including some international ones.
Lately, I’ve been stocking up on postcards. They’re quick to write, and some of the designs I’ve found are so freaking cute. Plus, postcards seem so inherently friendly to me.
You can find sets of them in all sorts of themes, including these gorgeous vintage-style botanical illustrations:
And there are also some silly collections, including this set of 40 pun-tastic post cards for $11. Please send this one to your friends in Australia, where “root” means something very different:
If there’s a particular image, character, or motif you like, chances are there’s a postcard of it. I bought myself these and adore them:
Claudia: My favorite online pens and stationery store, hands down, is jetpens.com. They carry a wide selection of mostly Japanese items and you can always find something special as well as functional there. I also love their guides.
Recent Amazon finds we loved:
The Zebra pens are smudge-free and great for the two left-handed people in our family.
For pencils, Faber Castell has triangular ones that don’t roll off your desk and have a cushion. I love these and also Mitsubishi pencils.
AJ: I love Goulet Pens for fountain pen and ink stuff! Plus I like supporting a small family owned business.
Claudia:
One more from me — UGUiSU Store. This shop has awesome washi tape and interesting finds.
Sneezy: In my defense, Pinkoi ships to Canada.
Cat Ear Rubber New Year’s Eve Handbook
One of the kinds of bindings I’m a sucker for!!! More importantly, a watercolour book!!! I haven’t really been a watercolour gal, but when I do dabble now and again, I much prefer a notebook to experiment and try things out than have to faff around with stretching my paper and uuuuuuugh. I haven’t used this particular one before, so no promises on the quality of the paper, but it does say the paper is 190lbs cold pressed. The watercolour notebook I had before was made with 130 lbs paper, and it was great!
Aaaaand the planner I ACTUALLY use.
You fill in the dates yourself, so no worries about when you need your planer to start counting days. AND IT TELLS YOU YOU’RE GOING TO BE OKAY!!!!!
This site also has accessories, washi tapes, pens, stickers, and stamps, and fountain pens, and MOAR NOTEBOOKS, and I’M SO SORRY!!!!! PLEASE TELL YOUR WALLETS I’M VERY VERY SORRY.
Sarah: CAT NOTEBOOK OMG.
Sneezy: There’s a whole SERIES of these cat notebooks, and I know they came out with stickers too.
What about you? What’s your favorite stationery find, shop, or must-have? Please share in the comments!
On the last Things We Like, someone recommended Archer and Olive notebooks—mine just arrived last week and I LOVE it. Great quality paper and the binding is sewn so it always lays open flat. (Really, SBTB has the BEST commenters!) I also got a wonderful set of writing paper and envelopes from Papier.
My other favorite office supplies are Pentel’s EnerGel pens and Blackwing 602 pencils, but I’m definitely tempted by all the pen recommendations above!
*heavy breathing* I want it all!
I have altogether too many notebooks but the cat one is calling my name!
Highly recommend JetPens! Super fast shipping and their guides are super informative (and problematic for my wallet, ha).
Been really liking the kuretake clean color dot markers – great for planners.
Cavallini and Co. makes some lovely post cards; they come in a flat tin. You can see some here ~ https://www.amazon.com/s?k=cavallini+postcards&ref=nb_sb_noss
The company also have some fun erasers such as the one that says …oops!
18 Zebra medium point pens are $5.92 on Amazon.
Washi tape is very pretty…but what do you do with it??
I *just* saw this Twitter thread about washi tape: https://twitter.com/thewashistation/status/1440019875783716873
and here’s an older listicle from BuzzFeed:

@Kelly D the cheaper Zebra pens you see are ballpoint, and gel pens are for a lot of people a little smoother to write! gel pens for lefties are tricker so hence the rec for those quick-dry ones.
And the Pentel gel pens that someone else mentioned here are awesome too, but definitely a bit pricier.
I bought and liked these postcard recently: Power couples in Archaeology.
I’m sure someone has mentioned this before, but just in case they haven’t, here’s a link to Itoya, my favorite store in Japan. If it’s made of paper or used with paper or holds paper, Itoya has it and it will be fun and beautiful.

lots of cool stuff.
