Stuff We Like: Adorable Kitchen Gadgets

Y’all, for what I am about to share, I deeply apologize.

We’ve featured the Baby Nessie tea infuser before in gift guides. It’s still cute!

A light blue tea infuser shaped like the loch ness monster with a long neck as a handle and perforations in the rubber body for the infusing Baby Nessie Tea Infuser from OTOTO, $17

But did you know there is a WHOLE STORE OF ADORABLENESS.

Oh, boy. Maybe I should have put this under “Hide Your Wallet” Because I need to hide mine right about now.

I already ordered this and am very excited.

Meet Gracula.

Gracula the garlic crusher. His head is the bladed crushing mechanism and it sits in his cape, which has an area for garlic gloves. Twist to crush and enjoy!Gracula Garlic Crusher, $18

We cook a lot, and we love garlic, and I have to admit, I really dislike cleaning the garlic press. It’s not like it takes forever, but my gosh, the little bits of garlic skin get into the tiniest crevasses and it takes longer to clean it than to use it. And it’s one clove at a time.

With Gracula, I can crush multiple cloves at once, and it looks like it’ll be much, much easier to clean.

Two photos, one of a white person's hands demonstrating how to use the gracula, and another photograph of the two pieces separated showing the crushed garlic beneath the head

And also hilarious.  LOOK AT THIS.

Gracula also has a cousin, Drac n’ Roll, a handy garlic peeler.

A black rubber garlic peeler tube shaped like a cape with a vampire head on the top Drac N’Roll garlic roller, $16

And then there’s Agatha.

I’m sorry in advance for showing you this.

A purple rubber witch who can sit astride a wooden spoon handle to keep it on the edge of a pot or pan, and her back can be used to tilt open a cooking pot lid to release steamAgatha the Witch Spoon rest and Steam Releaser, $17

Calling all Kitchen Witches! Agatha is also available in pink, black, and purple, and there’s also Bjorn the viking. My kitchen gadgetry is about to become 245% more charming and silly and I am very excited.

Do you want to have some wine with your delicious meal? Vino can help!

A black metal and plastic corkscrew designed to look like a bat with wings and a bottle opener headVino the Bat Corkscrew, $19

I don’t use the tiny Nespresso coffee pods, but this was so adorable, I had to share.

A red and white house with a red awning and tiled roof and a small patio that holds 25 little coffee pods and dispenses them from the front door Coffee Shop Coffee Pod Holder, $17

I think it’s because the design reminds me so much of the Snoopy Sno-Cone maker from my youth (which really didn’t make great sno-cones but I really wanted one anyway).

And of course I looked. And of course they’re available and “new and improved.” Hooo, boy.

Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine, a dog house with snoopy on the top and a dispensary of shaved ice in the frontSnoopy Sno-cone Machine, $30

And if you’re seriously thinking about a shaved ice machine for the summer heat, one of my neighbors has this one, and their house is very popular when it’s warm.

Can’t imagine why.

Hawaiian shaved ice maker in white plastic with a rainbow cup of shaved ice below Hawaiian Shaved Ice Machine, $35

You can also get a six pack of flavor syrups for $39. (Which is your favorite – grape, blue raspberry, cherry, lemon-lime, piña colada, or tiger’s blood, aka watermelon, strawberry, coconut? )

And, don’t forget, you can add your own Adult Beverages to shaved ice, too! (This is part of why that neighbor’s house is so popular not only with children during neighborhood cookouts.)

If you need a housewarming or shower or birthday party gift for someone, this set is going to cause everyone in the room to squee when it’s opened, I bet:

A set of three gadgets - a kitchen funnel shaped like a red mushroom with white spots, a slotted spoon ladle shaped like a leaf, and a set of measuring spoons designed to look like a bunch of cherries with a leaf on top Jungle Spoon, Magic Mushroom Foldable Funnel, and Mon Cherry Measuring Spoons and Egg separator, $47

The description for the slotted spoon reads, “Leaf no food behind.” You know I cannot resist a pun of that quality.

Why, yes, my kitchen sponge does need a nap!

A white plastic molded sponge holder designed to look like a bed with little pillows to hold the sponge in place and an open base so it will drain and dry Clean Dreams Sponge Holder, $8

There are so many other adorable gadgets, too. Have you tried any of these? Or is your cart now like mine and filled with adorableness? Which is your fave?

I have already ordered Gracula as a gift for my garlic-loving brother, who is a much better cook than I am.

  2. @SB Sarah says:

I have been using Sir Gracula for a week now, and I like it a LOT. A few bits of garlic can stick to the top or bottom but tapping the sides gets them to fall off pretty easily and my gosh it is a breeze to clean afterward. And it’s really freaking cute. I hope he likes it!!

  3. Jen says:

oh, but I have fallen in instalove with Kitchen Witch Agatha, and she must come home with me at once

  4. OMG I NEED THAT GARLIC CRUSHER!!! And the spoon holder! TOO CUTE!

I bought several Nessie tea infusers for my friends that I celebrate Burns Night with. It is truly adorable, though it doesn’t contain all the loose tea – there is always some that falls out into the cup. Then again, I think this is true of many tea infusers, and most of those are WAY less adorable.

  6. denise says:

I think I need that tea infuser!

  7. Kris Bock says:

Okay, bookmarking this for when I need gifts for those friends who already have everything they need.

My latest kitchen indulgence was a 1.2L tea pot. (2-3 mugs, depending on the mug. I like big mugs and I cannot lie.) The idea was to get me to use some of the loose leaf tea I’ve been accumulating, but so far…not so good. I seem to be a bag lady.

I like the tea pot, though. It’s all glass—so I can see if the insides get iffy—and I’m thinking of knitting it a cozy. Something I can button on that will hold the lid down. (The possibilities are endless.)
