Stuff We Like: April 2017 Edition

It’s time for my favorite new feature: Stuff We Like, a monthly round up of things that are fun, useful, fantastic, and giving us all the happy. This month: all sorts of items for storage, self pampering, fun, and general merriment.

Organization!

This Large Capacity Acrylic Cosmetic Organization Tray is $12. Amanda has this tray and she loves it. She says it holds all her makeup in a way that’s organized and neat but also makes it easy for her to see each piece.

If you’ve tripped over the power strip (*raises hand*) this bendable power strip (that comes in cute colors!) ($30) is probably calling to you, too.

Foodliness!

Let’s outfit our kitchens with adorable, bright tools, shall we?

This is just ridiculous: the OLizee™ Creative Fruits Plant Multi Kitchen Tool Set ($18) is twenty tools in one multicolored stack. Here’s a handy diagram: Diagram of 20 in one tool that slices peels, cores grates zests and does a bunch of other things. It's shaped like an apple with multicolored slices

Also bright, adorable, and useful:

This set of Cuisinart Knives in multicolored patterns is $26. If you’re not looking for knives (I love having good knives) I bet this would make a lovely housewarming present. And if those don’t float your style boat, the Tomodachi Titanium Cutlery Set ($23) looks like the blades are tie-dyed.

You feeling like eggs? Sure you are. Grab your skull mold and get cracking! Silicone skull mold with two holes for the yolks to make eyes

The Skull Mold ($6) (Also available in an owl, cat, frog, and robot pattern) cooks your sunny side up eggs in the perfect shape. AND thanks to this reviewer, I have some tips to share, too:

After a few trials and errors, this is what I started doing (which made perfect eggs almost every time).

1. Heat the nonstick pan and the mold for about 30 seconds. Spray the mold and the with cooking spray.
2. Crack eggs in a small bowl (I use Costco extra large eggs for the mold), and scoop out the egg yolk with a large spoon & gently place a yolk in each eye. Then pour the egg whites into the rest of the mold.
3. Cook for 30 seconds on medium heat. Then pour able 2 tablespoons of water into the pan. Cover with a lid. Wait for about 2 minutes before you slide the egg from the pan onto a plate.

If you want the eggs well done, then cook it longer; if you like the yolk under cooked, be sure to turn heat off and transfer your eggs while the yolk are still sunny yellow.

I noticed that if I spray the cooking spray before each use, I don’t have any problems with eggs sticking to the mold, so I could make eggs using the same mold for the entire family without any problems.

Perhaps you’d like tea or coffee with your skull eggs? These coffee spoons match your eggs – and you know that matching your cuisine to your utensils is all the rage (or so I hear).

Steel spoons with skulls for bowls and little eyes and nose holes at the edge

The LGXANTT Stainless Steel Skull Sugar Spoon Set are $14.50 and are stupidly charming.

Now that you’ve made yourself a great meal, how about… a bath with your favorite beverage nearby?

Close up of a glass of red wine in the shower caddy which suction cups to the wall of the tub or shower.

The SipCaddy Bath & Shower Cupholder is $14. I can think of at least ten people who would love this. My first thought was, “And if that suction cup gives out, that would suck mightily.” I checked the reviews, and it seems that as long as you’re using it on a non-porous surface, it’ll hold very well. One person is using it to hold back their curtains – and those look like some heavy drapes.

You might need somewhere to stash your rings while you bathe and sip, so here are some animals ready to help, including this seriously cute cat:

Cat ring holder, $9

Wait!

Soap! You need soap!

How about crystal or geode soap from Rock Hound Soap?Three purple crystal soaps fashioned to look like geodes
Three piece amethyst geode soap set, $22

Dark blue sapphire soaps
Blue Sapphire Soap Set, $7

After your bath, maybe your feet are cold and you’re out of wine? TRAVESTY.

Here:

Socks with grippy text on the bottoms that say If You Can Read This Bring Me Some Wine

The If You Can Read This, Bring Me Some Wine socks are $13, and really, they say everything you need to say.

And then, before bed, maybe you need some tea? Of course you do.
Medium blue mammoth mug with Please go away I'm reading in gold on the site

The Please Go Away I’m Reading mug from Stallings and Son is $19.99 and available in a bunch of colors (though I love the blue and gold).

But wait! More shopping? Of course!

Pretty much everything in the Fable & Black Etsy store is entirely covetable. I couldn’t pick just one thing to feature. Seriously, look:

Black and white enamel Bookworm pin with a white ribbon wound around a book
Bookworm enamel pin ($9)

Book Lover silverplate necklaces with Book Lover printed on a blue heart hanging from a silver chain
The Book Lover necklace ($13)
Canvas totebag with black ribbon that reads I'm a Slayer Ask me How
I’m a Slayer, Ask Me How totebag ($12)

I mean, all their totebags are terrific. Every last one. I don’t need more tote bags, and I want half of these.

And while you’re treating yourself, or maybe shopping for someone you really like, Amanda found this shop of Morse Code necklaces that are just adorable and available in different finishes and lengths.

Be You morse code necklace in silver
“Be You” Morse Code necklace – $59 and up

Gold necklace that spells out KILLING IT in morse code
“Killing It” Morse Code necklace – $59 and up

And that’s our shopping trip for this month.

What about you? Have you found anything interesting or fun in your online browsing? Please share!

I have a theory. SBTB has plotted to just take alllllllllllllllll of my money AND IM TOTALLY OKAY WITH THAT!

There is so much cute shit in this post that I want to buy all of the things! I mean yeah, RT is like in 2 seconds so I need to hoard all of my cash money BUT DAMMIT LOOK AT THE PURDY THINGS! Like that Geo Soap? HOLY! SHIT!

  2. Ren Benton says:

I would use nothing in that multi-tool kitchen set, but if it had been measuring cups and measuring spoons instead, I would have been all over it. I can never have enough measuring things that aren’t boring old stainless. Like these!

    Nested Kitty Cups

Stacked Mason Jar Cups and Spoons

Beehive Cups (which would go really well with my pans… hmm)

    OWLS

Oy, I just made this post dangerous for MYSELF. Skedaddling before I fall down the trivet rabbit hole…

  3. @SB Sarah says:

@Ren: Oh my gosh I am never going shopping with you. I’d have negative dollars left. (Also, please pardon my edits. The series of URLs was making the spam filter twitchy so I reformatted the links.)

  4. genie says:

I had no idea I needed a necklace that says “Bite Me” in morse code until this morning.

  5. LauraL says:

We beaded our names in binary code last year at a STEM event for girls. After seeing the Morse code necklaces, I hope they were beading their names ….

The “I’m Reading” mug would be really useful around here!

  6. LML says:

Yay! Bookish tote bags. With my TBR list exceeding 432 I’m a good candidate for a “So Many Books, So Little Time” tote.

  7. Ren Benton says:

@SB Sarah: Totally cool. I knew when it went to modland I’d overdone the links!

  8. Anna says:

And there goes any hope I had of saving this week’s paycheck. One of those necklaces & that mug must be mine!!

My roommates have the Cuisinart knives in solid colors and they are amazing! I actually requested my own set as a Christmas gift for when I move out. 🙂

  9. Kris Bock says:

Just a quick warning – many non stick pans say you shouldn’t use cooking spray oil on them. It will ruin the surface faster. Of course who reads, let alone keeps or remembers, the instructions that come with the pans?

  10. Oooh I want that kitchen tool thingy, just because it looks so pretty! and the skull mold..I’ll be needing that too 🙂

  11. Amanda says:

I have to say thank you! thank you! thank you! I got my mom the plant multi tool set for Mother’s Day (she’s not much of a reader) and she was over the moon. My parents just purchased a fifth wheel/camper (not sure of the correct term) so they can spend their retirement visiting state and national parks so she’s putting the set in there. It is compact but covers a wide variety of kitchen tools for mostly fruit.

Next, I am getting her the knives and this awesome .

  12. Amanda says:

Sorry, I biffed that – Seville Classics cutting board set on Amazon.
