RECOMMENDED: Accidentally Engaged by Farah Heron is $2.99! Kiki reviewed this one and gave it an A-:
I cannot emphasize enough how hungry this book will make you.
Accidentally Engaged might be my top pick for “don’t read while hungry.” Between our heroine Reena’s bread baking (there’s rye, there’s challah, there’s an ongoing battle with a sourdough starter) and her Indian and East African cooking, I was craving a feast pretty much the whole time I was reading this book.

RECOMMENDED: The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen is still $2.99! Sarah loved this one and gave it an A-:
If you like fantasy with characters that might sound like your neighbors sometimes, in a world with big stakes and little stakes and magical talking animals who deliver the mail, and especially if you like epistolary novels that lead to characters becoming more of themselves, you’ll like this undertaking. (Bad dum bum.)

RECOMMENDED: Last Night with the Earl by Kelly Bowen is $1.99! This is the second book in the Devils of Dover series, but can be read out of order (I did). The other books are also on sale. I hope Bowen comes back to historical romance. I so loved this book and gave it an A-.
For readers who love slow burn historicals that have a focus on emotional healing, I can’t push this into your hands or onto your e-readers fast enough.

Savage City by L. Penelope is 99c! Definitely worried this could expire soon. It involves a woman who gets transported to a fantasy world where she’s mistaken for a king’s daughter. Have any of you read this one?

For You & No One Else by Roni Loren is $1.99! So far, I only see this deal reflected at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. This is the third book in the Say Everything series, which deals a lot with mental health. It can also be read as a standalone. I love Roni’s books and am awaiting news of what she’s up to for 2024. I know her Ones Who Got Away series is getting a re-release.

Savvy Sheldon Feels Good as Hell by Taj McCoy is $2.99! This was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet. I thought we had a review of this one, but maybe I’m just remembering Shana talking about it in our Slack channels.

The Duke Gets Even by Joanna Shupe is $2.99! This is book four in the Fifth Avenue Rebels series. I loved the intimacy in the last couple covers of this series. Have you read all four? What do you think?

Stars, Hide Your Fires by Jessica Best is $2.99! Dahlia mentioned this one over the summer of July 2023 Queer Romances. Dahlia described this as a “delightful genre-mashup combines a fun space adventure, compelling mystery, and Sapphic romance laced with intrigue, betrayal, and banter.”

RECOMMENDED: The Monsters We Defy by Leslye Penelope is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal, as are all of today’s featured sales. Sarah read this one and gave it a B:
I liked the painstaking and careful character development of the first half more than the zoomy-zoom plot of the second half, but the foundation of historical fiction and incredible detail coupled with folk magic, ghosts, and negotiating with spirits made this an exceptionally fun, absorbing, and thoughtful story.

First Love, Take Two by Sajni Patel is $2.99! This is a contemporary romance where two exes become roommates. We featured this one on a previous edition of Cover Awe. Shana gave this a B-:
Readers who like to root for a couple who are up against a closed-minded community, and who sympathize with an anxious, and occasionally strident heroine, would enjoy First Love, Take Two. If you’re looking for a standalone romance, low angst, and a couple with stellar communications skills, this might not be for you. Either way, my fellow foodies will want platters of buttermilk biscuits and tacos at hand while you read.
