My guest this week is Elizabeth Hoyt!! This episode was SO MUCH FUN to record and produce and I am so excited to share it with you. We talk about her latest book, No Ordinary Duchess, writer’s block, emotionally constipated heroes, and the special place for sunshiny heroines. Plus we talk about how genres have changed in popularity over the course of her career. Side trips include the magic of writing about people who slowly … Continue reading 646. All the Right Notes by Dominic Lim is $2.99! Dahlia mentioned this one in her monthly queer romances column. It was also Lim’s debut and I’ve heard good things about it.
About a quarter of the way into When a Rogue Meets His Match, I realized the book was probably not going to be a particularly successful villain redemption or enemies-to-lovers romance. About three-quarters of the way in, I started to wonder what, exactly, the intended message of this book was, because it was verging in a startlingly uncomfortable way on emotional abuse apologia. Everything after that felt like too little, too late in terms of … Continue reading When a Rogue Meets his Match by Elizabeth Hoyt

One Fine Duke by Lenora Bell is $1.99! This is part of the School for Dukes series and I think we featured in on Cover Awe for the lovely dreamy quality of the cover. Though of course, if you have allergies, you may disagree. Readers enjoyed the adventure elements, but at times felt they overshadowed the romance.

Elizabeth Hoyt has a new historical series! We talk about her new book, Not the Duke’s Darling, the start of her new Greycourt series which comes out December 18th. Here are some words that will grab your attention: there is a secret society of women in this series, and it sounds delightful. Hey there! It’s about that time for Wednesday Links! The Northeast was hit with a snowstorm yesterday and come on, it’s fucking March and I’m sick of it. I mean, I hate the summer, but this late snow is getting ridiculous. … The Bechdel test is a test given to books, tv, and movies (plus any other form of media) that gauges the portrayal of women. Are there more than two women? Do they talk … Continue reading Links: Animals, Elizabeth Hoyt, & Woman Facts

When people come to me for historical recommendations I always tell them about the Maiden Lane series by Elizabeth Hoyt. Honestly, it’s my favorite historical series out there, and while the books are connected, they can easily be read as stand-alones, which makes it perfect for binge reading. Hold that thought because we’ve got a chance for one lucky winner to do just that. I love this series because it’s got a breathless pace. I … Continue reading Q&A and Giveaway: The Complete Maiden Lane Series by Elizabeth Hoyt – Plus an Exclusive Reveal!

RECOMMENDED: Darling Beast by Elizabeth Hoyt is $2.99! This book seven in the Maiden Lane historical romance series, and hinted at a Beauty & the Beast theme. Elyse and Redheadgirl did a join review of the book and gave it an A-:
Elyse: For me it’s a solid B+. It was a good read, but lacked the Beauty and the Beast storyline I really wanted. Also Plot Moppets. And questionable choices on Apollo’s part.
Oh, there are great sex scenes though!
So…maybe A-?
RHG: The sex scenes were great. I’d agree with the A-.
Historicals, man. Like many a romance reader, historicals were my gateway drug. And like many a romance reader, the historicals of my youth are, in retrospect, very slightly wince-inducing. Violet eyes! Sixteen-year-old virgin heroines with improbably located hymens/no hymen due to an anachronistic fondness for riding astride! Masterful manly dudes with magic manly parts capable of bestowing multiple orgasms on said virgin heroines! Frequent use of the term “hoyden”! I wish I could say that, … Continue reading Duke of Sin by Elizabeth Hoyt
