593. Romantic Times Rewind: July 2004 Ads & Features

Smart Podcast Trashy Books Romantic Times RewindIt’s July 2004, and the ads and features are a wild ride.

I might say that every month but this month it is especially true. We learn about a bunch of different bookstore that are still in business – and encounter a lot of ads for small presses that are, alas, long gone. There’s a lot of romance history in this issue.

Bonus: I solve a HaBO for Amanda! Live! I’m so proud of me.

  1. Kara says:

I really liked The Royal Treatment, and the other books in that series, but it has always felt so incomplete to me. Like there were other people in the family who needed books written that she never got around to doing.

  2. ellyn says:

I clicked through to Hallmark’s site for THE WEDDING PLANNER MYSTERY, and read the blurbs for the lead actors. Who knew that Erica Durance (Lois Lane on SMALLVILLE) could simultaneously be one of Canada’s 50 Most Beautiful People and be ranked #9 on TV’s Sexist [sic] Women by Buddy TV. Shame on Hallmark for not correcting the typo, but also funny to fall into a 2014 time warp of actor’s bios who were probably hoping that the Hallmark gig would be a one and done. The photo slide show includes Erica posing with her wedding planner craft belt– Erica Durance crafting belt

  3. @SB Sarah says:

@Ellyn: That is HILARIOUS. “TV’s ‘sexist’ women.” OMG.

  4. Kareni says:

That was quite the episode! Thank you, Sarah and Amanda.
