Carrie and Sarah discuss cons, and the magic of small and large communities of fans gathering in once place. We also talk about her research into women of the Victorian era, developments in science, technology & social issues, and the weird sense that history repeats itself.
Here are the books we discuss in this episode:
Mona Maclean, Medical Student, by Margaret Georgina Todd
This podcast is brought to you by Signet, publisher of THE KING—the latest in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series from #1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward—now in paperback.
Long live the King…
After turning his back on the throne for centuries, Wrath, son of Wrath, finally assumed his father’s mantle–with the help of his beloved mate. But the crown sets heavily on his head.
As the war with the Lessening Society rages on, and the threat from the Band of Bastards truly hits home, he is forced to make choices that put everything–and everyone–at risk.
Beth Randall thought she knew what she was getting into when she mated the last pure blooded vampire on the planet: An easy ride was not it. But when she decides she wants a child, she’s unprepared for Wrath’s response–or the distance it creates between them.
The question is, will true love win out… or tortured legacy take over?

FYI The Heart’s Game (“What happens at Comicon stays at Comicon”) – is by Crista McHugh. It’s part of the series that is her riff on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Great series – I think Sarah reviewed and really liked Crista’s Hanukkah novella in a podcast a couple years ago? Thought I’d mention her name for people who might be wondering.
And THANK YOU Carrie for the love of His Road Home! This was a total surprise! I’d seen my cover, but didn’t know when it was going to come up in the discussion, and normally I wait until kids are in bed and listen alone in adult time but I could NOT wait. And we have houseguests. And the guests are 12 year old boys, but I had to listen to the podcast anyway right away (I told them it had bad words and they had to leave the room!). When you went “oh, oh, oh” to Sarah’s question and then described my book I almost … well, our houseguests heard me!
