I’ve decided to take a really good look at the Contemporary Romance Colors that are most prevalent on covers this year and attempt to identify what is the CR-COTY, the Contemporary Romance Color of the Year. Sidenote: did you know I’m not technically supposed to name things? I’m not good at it. If “CR-COTY” is making your eyelids twitch, I am also responsible for the name DABWAHA, the bracket tournament of romance we used to … Continue reading Contemporary Romance Color of the Year: Green? →

RECOMMENDED: A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! We read this for my book club and we all agreed there wasn’t enough blacksmithing and sword-making. Carrie enjoyed this one and gave it an A-:
This is such a solid book – it’s tear-jerking, it’s inspiring, it’s sexy and romantic, it’s interesting (sword history!) and it’s funny. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This month is positively overrun with A+ choices, and these five are just the tip of the iceberg. As we usher in a new season, remember that nothing’s more delicious with a pumpkin spice latte or apple cider than a great queer romance!

We’re going back to September 2015, and I want to ease you into this knowledge, so take a breath, center yourself: that was nine years ago. I don’t get it either but apparently it’s true? JR Ward is on the cover, and there’s all kinds of good stuff inside! Come with us to visit some reviews that are word salad, and some that made me say, a few times, “Way harsh, Tai. Way harsh.” Don’t … Continue reading 631. RT Rewind: September 2015 Reviews →
In this week’s podcast episode, we’re looking at the book reviews for the September 2015 issue of RT Magazine. Thank you to Shannon Stacey for this issue! You can also find all the RTRW content at our category page for Romantic Times Rewind. And, most importantly, if you want to listen and follow along with this entry, we have more detail in the audio, but you can click play and listen and read and absorb … Continue reading Romantic Times Rewind: September 2015 Reviews →

Forget Met Not by Julie Soto is $2.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! This was Soto’s contemporary romance debut and I mentioned it on a previous Hide Your Wallet. I liked this one! The book does switch between past and current events to show more of the main couple’s previous history, but I understand it could be a jarring format for the reader.

This Rec League came from Babelfish. Thank you so much! Hi y’all – you did a wonderful post a while back on fat-positive historical romances, and generally y’all are super cool about calling out fatphobia where you see it. The book I’m looking for may not exist, but if it does, I thought you’d know. (I’m a librarian and I’m coming up empty, so I’m turning to the experts!) I’m looking for books for *partners* … Continue reading The Rec League: Supportive Through Body Dysmorphia →
Welcome back to Links! I very much enjoyed the collective snarking in the comments last week. I love it when a community comes together! For those in the States, I hope you had a pleasant Labor Day weekend. For us, it was mostly a weekend of rotting, jut hanging and vegging out at home. How did you spend your weekend? We’re starting to feel a hint of fall in New England and I am so … Continue reading Links: Cover Songs, Cover Models, & More →

Triple Sec by TJ Alexander is $1.99! This was mentioned in Dahlia’s Queer Romance Round-Up for June. I also remember a few other reviewers on staff being excited about it due to the poly romance.

I know summer doesn’t technically end until September 22, but for me, the few days after Labor Day are the finale. It’s still plenty warm, but Joann’s* has Halloween out the wazoo and down the hall, and Costco is already starting to get decorative if you know what I mean, and I think that you do. Alongside the 10 pound bags of Halloween candy (100 Grand or bust!) there’s…signs of sparkle. But while I think … Continue reading What was YOUR Book of the Summer? →
Rich and I are both going into The Bachelorette tonight sick. We have some kind of virus (luckily not Covid) and have taken all the cold medicines. Hard to say if that’s going to make this better or worse. As usual, Picasso says “How you doin’?” It’s Fantasy Suites week and we’re in Hawaii. The first date goes to Devin who has already told Jenn he loves her. Jenn has not reciprocated yet. They start out … Continue reading Elyse Watches The Bachelorette–S21 E8: So Boring →
