Movie Review: A Quiet Passion

A Quiet Passion film poster

A Quiet Passion is a strange little movie about Emily Dickinson. It works best if you don’t think of it as a biopic but rather as a meditation on the life of a prickly, strange, and brilliant person. This movie came out in limited release early this year and is finally available on iTunes for those of us who missed it on the big screen. A Quiet Passion kicks off with young Emily, played by … Continue reading Movie Review: A Quiet Passion

At RWA, I sat down with Beverly Jenkins, the recipient of the 2017 RWA Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award. First: I will share a link to the ceremony with Ms. Bev’s speech in the show notes. Please take a moment to watch it. It is deeply moving, powerful, and incredible. I’ve watched it probably six or seven times, and I get teary. The Rec League: Unrequited Love with Experienced Heroines

Featured image for The Rec League: Unrequited Love with Experienced Heroines

We have new Rec League coming from SB Sarah, who is searching for a combination of unrequited love for a heroine who is experienced and confident! Sarah: I want to find romances where the hero has an unrequited love for the heroine BUT the heroine is not this innocent ingenue. Too often the hero in that scenario is rich, powerful, worldly, famous, or entirely too alpha for my liking – especially that last one. The alpha … Continue reading The Rec League: Unrequited Love with Experienced Heroines

Rogue Desire: A Romance Anthology

Rogue Desire

This collection is billed as an anthology for fans of The West Wing, for fired up resistance fighters, and for anyone who’s had a crush on that guy at the protest. To be honest, I have not had any crushes on guys at protests, because the ones I tend to notice are the ones acting like fools, so there’s that. However, all of those other things describe me. There are 8 stories in this book … Continue reading Rogue Desire: A Romance Anthology

HaBO: An Affair with an Agent

This HaBO is from Misha, who is trying to help out a friend: I’m asking for a male friend of mine who says it’s the only Romance novel he’s ever read, but that it was amazing. He lost the book half way through and NEEDS to find it (and find out what happened). He thinks it’s was called An Affair with an Agent. Main characters name was Beth. Beginning of the book, Beth got thrown … Continue reading HaBO: An Affair with an Agent
