RECOMMENDED: The Red by Tiffany Reisz is $1.19 at Amazon! This is a Kindle Daily Deal, though it doesn’t seem to be price matched at the moment. This earned a B+ grade from Elyse:
Fans of Reisz’s Original Sinners series will gobble this book up. For those looking for erotica without a ton of emotional angst, The Red is right up your alley. It’s a delightful, wicked fairytale and it’s a ton of fun.

This HaBO request is from Jamie, who wants to find what sounds like a comedic contemporary romance: I remember this as being tremendously funny, but cannot for the life of me remember the title or author. The heroine is a klutz and I think she was an artist. She is vacationing (?) on a Caribbean island or somewhere tropical. There is an incident with the car where she forgets to set the parking brake, and … Continue reading HaBO: Heroine Forgot the Parking Brake →

I was inspired by Dahlia Adler’s tweetstream about books that are escapist fun when the news is too much. She’s the author of Under the Lights and several other YA romances. https://twitter.com/MissDahlELama/status/925021815491178496 https://twitter.com/MissDahlELama/status/925022624773824512 https://twitter.com/MissDahlELama/status/925025583897202688 First, how lovely and kind, and what good recs. Second, GOOD GRAVY WHEN IS THE NEWS NOT TOO MUCH RIGHT NOW. We need these safe book places twice a day, I should think. So, inspired by Dahlia, I asked the Bitches this … Continue reading What Are Your Happy Place Romance Recs? →

Never Too Hot by Bella Andre is $1.99! This is the third book in the Hot Shots: Men of Fire and the first book is also on sale. Readers say that it’s a great emotional romance with some forced proximity. However, others mentioned they had a tough time connecting with the characters.

Beauty Like the Night is the first book by Joanna Bourne that I’ve read, but it definitely won’t be the last. (Somewhere, in Scotland, Redheadedgirl just sat up and went “what?” and isn’t sure why). This book was so good.  It’s got a bad-ass heroine, a richly developed world, an element of mystery, and a delicious slow-burn romance. For me, hands down, the best part of this story was the heroine, Severine de Cabrillac. She … Continue reading Beauty Like the Night by Joanna Bourne →

Sometimes the time between Cover Snarks goes quickly and other times, it feels like ages since the last one. For me, it’s the latter this time. Regardless, enjoy! Amanda: This is not some hokey marriage memoir like I thought. Elyse: I bet that note is about swinging. The more I look at it, the more I think that couple are serial killers. “The secret to our marriage is a murder-pact!” RHG: The Hallmark channel doesn’t … Continue reading Cover Snark: We Need a CSI Team →

Previously: Claire goes back. Jamie faints on his ass. We jump in, with Jamie being dressed by a French woman, and their relationship is… close. He’s in Edinburgh, in 1766, and I’m telling you guys, the streets are too clean. (Every tour guide and every museum in Edinburgh mentioned poop and the disposal thereof. My impression of the history of Edinburgh is that it was mostly shit with the occasional murder and bodysnatching. Anyway.) Anyway, … Continue reading Outlander 3.06 A. Malcolm →

RECOMMENDED: Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Córdova is $1.99 at Amazon. I’m not sure if this is a left over Kindle Daily Deal from yesterday, so it may be expiring soon. Sarah read this book last year and gave it a B grade:
Overall, I think this book contains a fabulous world with a terrific, galloping adventure through a vivid and wrenching underworld. While I was reading it, I had a hard time putting it down. But the story has most of its strength in the plot and the world-building than in the characters and their emotional development and consistency, and I missed those aspects even while I enjoyed the rest.

Note: the recaps this season are written from the British airings, which often have 6-10 minutes that the US airings do not. If you’re reading this and going “Hey, I don’t remember that!” that’s probably why. Previously: Enys is alive, but still imprisoned. Morwenna is facing a marriage crisis. George continues to be a murderous dick. D gave birth to a baby girl. Among the Family Poldark, D describes the current plan to rescue the … Continue reading Poldark 3.04 →
