Books on Sale: The Devil’s Submission by Nicola Davidson & More

RECOMMENDED: The Devil’s Submission by Nicola Davidson is 99c! This is an erotic historical romance, though it is more of a novella length. Elyse really loved this book and gave it an A:

The reason I loved The Devil’s Submission so much was that it depicts two adults finding comfort and joy together in a shared kink. It’s about a healthy exploration of sexuality and acceptance of the results of that exploration. Sex positivity for the win!

HaBO: Sister of Heroine’s Ex-Husband Almost Kidnapped in Greece

This HaBO is from Shelli, who’s looking for a romance published in the 80s or earlier: There was a book I read as a young teenager years ago that I cannot remember the title or author to. It had to have been written before 1988. An ex-wife returns to Greece because she thinks there was an attempted kidnapping of her ex-husband’s sister. They are bringing all of the family members together. After she arrives, they … Continue reading HaBO: Sister of Heroine’s Ex-Husband Almost Kidnapped in Greece

Books on Sale: King’s Captive by Amber Bardan & More

RECOMMENDED: King’s Captive by Amber Bardan is $3.99! If you’re looking for a mindfuck of a romance novel, this comes highly recommended by Elyse. She gave this romance an A:

If you like darker romance or like me love a good psychological thriller, King’s Captive is so much your catnip. If you prefer your hero to be squeaky clean, then maybe steer clear.

Books on Sale: A Talent for Trickery by Alissa Johnson & More

RECOMMENDEDA Talent for Trickery by Alissa Johnson is $3.82 at Amazon! The second book is the same price. I did a mulled wine recipe for this book as part of Covers & Cocktails. Carrie also reviewed it, giving it an A grade:

I liked the action and the mystery and above all I loved that Lottie’s super power is that she’s super smart and super practical. This book was funny and touching and has stayed in my head since I finished it. Now I just have to figure out how to make time for all the author’s other books. Sleep is overrated, right?

Movie Review: Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Last Jedi theatrical poster with characters mostly in red, black and white

It took me longer than I expected to see The Last Jedi, but finally I was blessed with the chance to watch confident women of a certain age boss Oscar Isaac around on the deck of a starship. Here’s a short, spoiler-free review of The Last Jedi. Please note that there may and likely will be spoilers in the comments, as we are creating a space for you all to discuss the movie together. Movie Review: The Shape of Water

The Shape of Water movie poster

It’s no secret that I love Guillermo del Toro and his really fascinating way of making precisely the movie in his head (and it’s never the same movie twice). This particular movie has been described as “the R-rated version of Lilo and Stitch” and… that’s not wrong. Elisa Esposito (Sally Hawkins) is a woman who cannot talk, and who works nights as a cleaner in a research center in Baltimore in the 1960s. She has … Continue reading Movie Review: The Shape of Water

A Tale Of True Love: Romance in A Christmas Carol

Featured image for A Tale Of True Love: Romance in A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, is not a romance novel, but it is a classic testimony to the importance of romantic love. As all are no doubt aware, it’s the story of a cranky, miserly man (Ebenezer Scrooge) who is visited by three ghosts (four, counting his deceased business partner, Jacob Marley). These ghosts take him through the past, present, and future, offering him a chance of redemption. Part of this journey involves Ebenezer … Continue reading A Tale Of True Love: Romance in A Christmas Carol
