Hello, Wednesday! Have I told you that I hate the summer? I hate it. On the bright side, I’ve been seeing a lot of movies because it lets me sit in the dark with some A/C. I recently saw Ant-Man and the Wasp. Not a bad summer movie and such a great portrayal of positive co-parenting. Anyway, here are some links! … RWA has a new series for authors on their YouTube channel called “Two-Minute Tips.” So far, … Continue reading Links: Writing Tips, Plot Bunnies, & Romance →

Six Impossible Things by Elizabeth Boyle is $2.99! This is the sixth book in the Rhymes with Love historical romance series. Redheadedgirl wrote a Lightning Review and gave this one a B:
What I liked best about Six Impossible Things was Rosalie and her determination that she would use her talents to help King and Country, whether King and Country liked it or not. She’s a patriot in the purest sense, and she’s got a brilliant mind that’s working two steps ahead of everyone else.

Happy Bachelorette …er, Wednesday. Due to a virus or a weird fibro flare (or both) I wasn’t able to recap the live show Monday, but I do feel up to watching (and drinking) tonight. We’re down to 6 guys and off the Bahamas everyone! The dudes who make it through tonight get to go to home towns. Pour your favorite adult beverage. Honestly this episode was kind of a snooze-fest, so extra points if it’s caffeinated. … Continue reading Elyse Watches The Bachelorette – Episode 7: Snoozefest →
How to Forget a Duke is a delightfully tropey Regency featuring a hero who goes from loveable curmudgeon to joyfully in love. It was a lovely departure from some of the truly awful heroes I’ve been encountering lately. So how tropey is it, you ask? We’ve got enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, matchmaking, and–hell yeah–amnesia. All of it works, and honestly, this romance is just so fun that it made my day. Jacinda Bourne and her sisters … Continue reading How to Forget a Duke by Vivienne Lorret →

This HaBO is from Liz, who is hoping to find this contemporary (at least I think it’s contemporary): I’ve been wracking my brains trying to remember a book title, and someone just directed me here! Ages ago I read a romance novel where the male lead was secretly a romance author, and the female lead was the editor of the author, having no idea the author was a guy. Her job is on the rocks … Continue reading HaBO: Hero Writes Romance Novels →

RECOMMENDED: The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert is $2.99! This is an arranged marriage plot in a modern setting and Elyse is addicted to this series The book does deal with characters in the mob, which I know is a big off-button for some readers, so FYI. Elyse’s reviewed this one and she gave it an A:
If you had told me that I’d really love a book about the children of two Boston mob bosses being in an arranged marriage, I’d have raised a skeptical eyebrow. But I’m so so glad that The Marriage Contract proved me wrong because I enjoyed it immensely.

The first book in this series, Death Below Stairs, was a SBTB Book Club Pick, and I was so excited to receive the sequel. This is easily one of my favorite new series, and I adore so much about it. Happy for me, just about everything I love about this world is present in the new book, and I’m immensely satisfied, making all the Good Book Noise one might expect. I read it while walking on … Continue reading Scandal Above Stairs by Jennifer Ashley →
Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

This HaBO request is from Meredyth and she wants to find a romance she read in high school: I’m trying to recall a book I remembered hiding under my mattress during high school. This was the late 90s, early 2000s though, so my memory has completely failed me. The book could have been older, but not by a lot. I’d say 90s. Here’s what I recall: The cover might have been teal, or the dress … Continue reading HaBO: Shirtless Sheep Rescue →

RECOMMENDED: Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and it’s being price-matched. It’s a scifi novel with some great female characters. Readers say that though this scifi is a little darker and less “feel good,” the loved it. However, some felt a bulk of the book was just setup and information dumping for the next book. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads. Elyse enjoyed this one and I really loved the audiobook.

Bad Bachelor is a contemporary romance with two main characters who are a lot like Transformers. Not in the sense that they are robots in disguise, but there is definitely more than meets the eye. There is some amazing banter and some fantastic sex scenes, though I had to overcome one major hurdle. Darcy Greer is a goth librarian who is desperately trying to get more funding for her branch. Reed McMahon works in PR. … Continue reading Bad Bachelor by Stefanie London →
