Yep, it's true - I was so shocked I didn't know what to do next.
RECOMMENDED: After Dark with the Duke by Julie Anne Long is $1.99! Fingers crossed this isn’t a deal from the weekend. Lara gave this one a Squee grade:
This romance just hit too many of my favourite buttons for me to be objective. For me, the highest praise I can give a romance novel is that it is original, and this book is that in every possible sense. Do not hesitate over that one-click button; I can guarantee reading satisfaction. Oh, to read this book again for the first time. I swoon!
It’s…a day. If this were a work of fiction, I’d have to ask the writers to go back over the plot for today because having the inauguration of a White supremacist fascist felon on the same day as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a bit much, honestly. I remember eight years ago, signing up for the Anti-Racism Daily, now Reimagined News, and seeing the words, “Your heart is a muscle the size of your … Continue reading Share the Goodness and Hold On
I’m an absolute sucker for historical romance and this one did not disappoint. Lady Alice Ancaster needs a husband quite urgently because her reckless brother is likely to end up dead due to his fast living. The dukedom would then fall to an odious cousin who would make Alice’s life a misery. So off she goes to London, ready to find herself a suitable man. And she does. But she doesn’t close the deal: her brother … Continue reading My Inconvenient Duke by Loretta Chase

Valley Verified by Kyla Zhao is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! We featured this one on Cover Awe awhile back. I believe this one skews more toward Women’s Fiction and features a main character taking her skills to a new industry.
Joanna Shupe posted a TikTok on November 11, 2024, in response to angry readers chastising her for writing in her newsletter about her disappointment with the election results. I have included the audio with her permission. She says in her comments that she could teach a whole class about the parallels between the Gilded Age and the current political and cultural climate, which I am calling The Dumpster Age. I reached out and said, I … Continue reading 650. “I’m Going to Keep Daring” – Romance and History with Joanna Shupe
RECOMMENDED: The Blighted Stars by Megan E. O’Keefe is $2.99! Elyse loved this scifi with romantic elements and gave it an A, but gave a warning:
The Blighted Stars is the first book in a series, so we don’t get a ton of resolution in this novel, romantic or otherwise. If you’re looking for a complete romantic arc, don’t start this book.
Simply put, what are you manifesting for your TBR pile or publishing this year? Elyse: I actually halved my reading goal from last year and unsubscribed to a lot of social media stuff regarding books. I feel like I got caught up in a lot of hype for not great books last year and that I consumed a lot without enjoying or processing it. My goal this year is to slow my reading down and … Continue reading Reading Manifestations for 2025
