HaBO: Main Characters’ Parents Were Having an Affair

This HaBO comes from Ky, who wants to find this contemporary romance. Content warning for the description below: I’ve been desperately trying to find the the name of this book that I read around 2018-20. I think it was written in the 2010s and I read it as an ebook. These are the details I remember: – I think the couple were childhood sweethearts and they broke up after discovering their parents were having an … Continue reading HaBO: Main Characters’ Parents Were Having an Affair

Books on Sale: Accidentally Engaged by Farah Heron & More

RECOMMENDED: Accidentally Engaged by Farah Heron is $2.99! Kiki reviewed this one and gave it an A-:

I cannot emphasize enough how hungry this book will make you.

Accidentally Engaged might be my top pick for “don’t read while hungry.” Between our heroine Reena’s bread baking (there’s rye, there’s challah, there’s an ongoing battle with a sourdough starter) and her Indian and East African cooking, I was craving a feast pretty much the whole time I was reading this book.

HaBO: Dark Romance with Addiction Issues

This HaBO request is from Nina, who wants to find this dark contemporary romance. Trigger warning for the description below: I have been trying to find this book since forever. It’s a motorcycle club book wherein the hero is a biker and the heroine almost dies due to a drug overdose. The heroine (due to some circumstances) gets it on with a drug dealer from another biker club, who she met after she and the … Continue reading HaBO: Dark Romance with Addiction Issues

Cover Snark: Too Smooth

Aspen by T.K. Lucaith. Two very white, nude, and hairless people are kissing atop a lake. Like physically standing on water, with mountains in the background.

Hey! It’s Monday and we think it’s the perfect time for Cover Snark. From Jen: This motorcycle seems to be running over the guy, or maybe it’s a ghost cycle? Amanda: Run him over! He knows what he did! Also, his abs could technically be speed bumps. Sarah: This is some fine vintage Poser art. and I’m reasonably sure from the cover copy that the hero is a motorcycle shifter. Elyse: Is that the Black … Continue reading Cover Snark: Too Smooth

Book Review

Along Came a Lady by Christi Caldwell

Along Came a Lady

Along Came A Lady is ridiculous, but initially I found it to be ridiculous fun. This Regency romance pits an etiquette teacher against a stubborn miner in a “Pygmalion” type story with a battle of wits and wills, plus a dash of “The Prince and the Pauper” and a smidgen of Poldark. Alas, the story went off the rails at around the 75% mark and soon began making even less sense than it did at … Continue reading Along Came a Lady by Christi Caldwell

Whatcha Reading? August 2021, Part Two

We’re approaching the end of August and that means it’s time for our second monthly Whatcha Reading post! We want to hear all about what you’ve been reading, though here are some of our books from the month! Shana: I’m halfway into the audiobook of Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers. It’s a little slow plot-wise, but really hitting my sweet spot with its caring space collective. I also just started One Last … Continue reading Whatcha Reading? August 2021, Part Two
