This HaBO comes from Cory, who wants to find this romantic suspense: I don’t remember too much. I started this and lost the book before I could finish it. I know the heroine is trying to I think solve the murder of one of her parents . She works for her criminal uncle’s million dollar business under an assumed identity. While she is doing that, the hero is doing surveillance on her and that same … Continue reading HaBO: Heroine Uses Fake Identity to Work for Uncle→
Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by sisters Maika and Maritza Moulite is $2.99! This book was featured on both Cover Awe and Hide Your Wallet. I had the pleasure of meeting these authors at BEA a few years back and they were so incredibly nice and bubbly. This one is on my TBR pile, but we all know that thing is massive.
This HaBO is from Gloriamarie, who wants to find this paranormal romance: He is a vampire, she is an actress. I forget if this is set in San Francisco, LA, or NYC. It is a contemporary and I read it on my Kindle but it is hopeless to wade through my Kindle content to find it. He attends the play she has the lead in, I believe. Somehow they meet, fall in love. He has … Continue reading HaBO: Vampire Owns Special Horses→
All Stirred Up is not a book that sparkles – the atmosphere is more melancholy, with glimmers of sweetness and humour. It’s a story that requires patience – more patience, honestly, than I have – but if Persuasion is your favourite Jane Austen novel, I suspect you will love All Stirred Up. I don’t think I’ve ever read a retelling that captured the mood of the original so well.
Welcome back to Cover Awe! Let’s discuss interesting covers, shall we? Cover design by Reese Dante From Qualisign: This is one of the few covers of a naked person that screams power, competence, beauty without hinging on sex. It’s gorgeous. Sarah: Wow. I follow some ballet dancers on IG and this image reminds me of some of their posts. Stunning. Amanda: It’s also nice to see muscle definition without the bulging veined, dehydrated look. Sneezy: … Continue reading Cover Awe: Colors & Poses→
Broken by Jenny Lawson is $3.99! A couple of use here at SBTB have really loved Lawsons’ previous two memoir collections and this is her third, which came out this April. Humor can certainly be subjective. If you’re tempted by this one, but are unsure if her voice will work for you, she has a long-running blog: The Bloggess.
Kulti by Mariana Zapata is $1.99! If you like slow burn romances and grumpy heroes, this one comes highly recommended by the Bitchery. However, some found the slow burn a little too slow, and we’ve previously posted a thoughtful guest review with a C grade.

Last call, y’all! The Romancelandia for Afghan Women auction ends September 5! And the Romance for Haiti auction has already closed, raising well, well over their original goal. I really do love when the romance community does unspeakably rad things like this. As I mentioned before, all the money raised by Romancelandia for Afghan Women (RfA) will be donated to Women for Afghan Women, the largest organization for women in Afghanistan, providing shelter, aid and resources … Continue reading Last Call – Romancelandia Auctions for Haiti and Afghan Women!→
Sarah: It’s very nearly Spoooooky Season, if it’s not already. What’s the line, anyway? Appearance of Halloween candy at Costco (Uh, check, I think)? The arrival of Pumpkin Spice Everything? Check! The first time I make pumpkin bread? Check! Decor and accessories? Oh, yeeeaaaah. My local Joann’s had this guy hanging out ready to deliver some snacks the last time I went, and that was last week, still in August: Amanda and I both noticed, … Continue reading Bitches Love Witches: A Hide Your Wallet Bonus→
This book is important for women like me, showing that we can absolutely have our HEA with a man and still proudly claim our queerness. Plus, it’s such a joyful celebration of love that it’s like a warm hug. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will read it again.
