Books on Sale: Meddling and Murder by Ovidia Yu & More

Meddling and Murder by Ovidia Yu is 99c! This his a cozy mystery, though I’m unsure which installment this one is in the Aunty Lee Mystery series. Some places say it’s #1 in one series, while others say it’s #4 in another. I know Sarah has really enjoyed Yu’s Crown Colony series.

Kickass Women in History: Elizabeth Packard

This month’s Kickass Woman was brought to my attention by the book The Woman They Could Not Silence: One Woman, Her Incredible Fight For Freedom, and the Men Who Tried To Make Her Disappear by Kate Moore. Kate Moore is also the author of The Radium Girls: The Dark History of America’s Shining Women. I recommend both books with the caveat that they will induce feelings of rage, as Moore brings historical cases of systemic … Continue reading Kickass Women in History: Elizabeth Packard

Whatcha Reading, Part The First!

old book on the bench in autumn park

Ooops! Usually, to prepare for the Whatcha Reading? posts, I have an automation tied to my site calendar (the site has its own calendar) (I love calendars) that will post a message to our internal Slack asking, well, the obvious question. Somehow, and I suspect it was fingers being clumsy on my phone, I accidentally turned off that automation (darn!) so the query didn’t go off. So this is a shorter, but no less heartfelt … Continue reading Whatcha Reading, Part The First!

Books on Sale: My Sweet Folly by Laura Kinsale & More

My Sweet Folly by Laura Kinsale is $2.99! This book sounds absolutely bananas. Readers really loved the heroine and how witty she was. However, given the bananas quality of the book, some said the pacing is a bit all over the place. Have you read this one?

Books on Sale: The King’s Man by Elizabeth Kingston & More

The King’s Man by Elizabeth Kingston is $2.99! This is the first book in the Welsh Blades series and features an enemies to lovers romance, plus a nursed back to health element. Readers recommend the audio version narrated by Nicholas Boulton and many liked the anti-hero-ness of the hero. However, some mention there are historical inaccuracies.

The Rec League: Environmentalists

The Rec League - heart shaped chocolate resting on the edge of a very old book

Our latest Rec League was sent in by author Maria Vale: Do you have any recs for romances with enviro/conservation consciousness? Not preachy, just there. There are a lot of niches, but this isn’t one I’ve found and given the current state, I’m kind of surprised. Sarah: Breathe the Sky by Michelle Hazen I interviewed them for a podcast episode, though content warnings for an abusive backstory. Maya: I liked that one too! But also … Continue reading The Rec League: Environmentalists

Books on Sale: Angels’ Blood by Nalini Singh & More

Angels’ Blood by Nalini Singh is $3.99! It’s part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals and is being price-matched. This is the first book in the very popular Guild Hunter series. I remember reading this a long time ago, but didn’t continue with the series because I prefer my series to be one couple per book. I know Singh switches to other couples later on, but I am impatient.

Boyfriend Dungeon

CW/TW: stalking A few weeks ago, three people sent me (Tara) a link for Boyfriend Dungeon in the Nintendo Store. I don’t really believe in signs, but by the third message, I was sold. I started playing that evening and was totally hooked. And luckily, Amanda was into it too! Amanda: I was blessed enough to back it on Kickstarter and got some cool limited edition swag. I’ve been anxiously awaiting its release! Tara: Boyfriend … Continue reading Boyfriend Dungeon
