Big thank you to Abby for submitting this fun, and surprisingly tough, request: I’ve also been marathoning cooking Youtube videos (while eating PB&J sandwiches) and especially love the NYT Cooking series featuring Sohla and her husband Ham. I am looking for books featuring couples with the same energy as Sohla and Ham – a little chaotic, very creative, unfailingly kind and deeply competent? Bonus points for recs involving cooking! Here is a clip Abby provided … Continue reading The Rec League: Chaotic, Wholesome Energy →
TW: child abuse and abandonment, rape (off page), manipulation, bloody violence, the death of a horse (off-page) All of you readers who love feminist, progressive takes on fairy tales will love Little Thieves, a very loose retelling of “The Goose Girl,” a fairy tale made famous by Brothers Grimm. “The Goose Girl ” is one of the more macabre of the Grimm tales, which is saying a lot. In this version, the story of a maid … Continue reading Little Thieves by Margaret Owen →
Welcome back to Wednesday Links! We are officially in November! How does it feel? Overwhelming? Exciting? My roommate and I are doing a small little Thanksgiving for the two of us and we’ve done some menu planning. I’m doing a roast chicken, stuffing, and maybe a cocktail. She’s handling the potatoes and dessert. Cheers to a stress free turkey day! … I love Paperback Paradise on Instagram. They take old pulp fiction covers and give … Continue reading Links: Art, Ilona Andrews, & More →

The hero is definitely an Alpha hero and can be a jackass at times, which some readers found off-putting. But I went on to read the rest of the Drakon series.

This HaBO request is from Amber, who is looking for a book they saw on TikTok: I recently saw a TikTok about a romance book in which the hero and heroine meet in a strip club. She is there for a bachelorette party and he is a stripper. He pulls her on stage and things get freaky. She ends up…ahem…having an orgasm. I unfortunately closed out of the app before I could make note of … Continue reading HaBO: TikTok Book Rec →

They also swear it’s not Outlander: There is this book I read a few years ago, and I have been looking for it everywhere, at this point I am desperate to find it. Here is the story: It is a time-travel romance novel set in the UK. A female student (maybe medical school), very intelligent goes to her parents’ house during Christmas … Continue reading HaBO: Time Traveling on Christmas Break →

A Scot to the Heart is a solid book. The house party alone makes it well worth reading. You’ll likely love these characters as much as I did.
