Jeff and Will from The Big Gay Fiction Podcast are joining me for the Sweet Dreams Recap of book #9, Cover Girl by Yvonne Green. This cover, y’all. And inside! We have a rather gross boyfriend, and an even worse mom, plus nature nerds! This is undoubtedly one of the greatest Sweet Dreams cover of them all. TW/CW: Chapter 10 is a little upsetting. … Music: purple-planet.com

Firelight by Kristen Callihan is $1.99! This is the first book in the Darkest London series, a series that I mostly enjoy. In the first three books, the heroines are sisters and I’d rank them in their series order. The third is my least favorite, namely because it contains a lot of tropes that aren’t my thing. However, I still have enjoyed what I’ve read thus far.

This Rec League comes to us from Lynn. Thanks, Lynn! I am not sure if this is too specific or too broad for a Rec League but I don’t know how else to look for this. I would love to get some recommendations for romance novels where the couple doesn’t break up/have a huge misunderstanding in the middle of the book. I’ve only read one where this was the case (Paladin’s Strength by T. Kingfisher) … Continue reading The Rec League: No Bleak Moment →
Welcome back, my perfect poptarts! Also, what are your favorite flavors? I personally love Brown Sugar Cinnamon and S’mores. So good. Well now I want poptarts. I leave for Germany in a week and I can hardly believe it. I’ll be doing a lot of day trips during the week while my brother is at work and I have some ideas already. I’m nervous, of course, but once I get there, I think I’ll be … Continue reading Links: Gin, Quizzes, & More →

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory is $1.99! Speaking to other romance readers, I feel like a lot of those I know liked this one more than The Wedding Date. What do you think? Do you have a favorite Guillory romance?

It’s time for the WTFery that is The Bachelor. It’s been very cold and snowy here lately so Pudding has been spending time on her heated mat. She’s also excited to announce that she will be my co-recapper for NBC’s The Courtship next month. Her Ladyship has opinions. So last week Mara told Clayton that not all of the women are ready for marriage (Sarah specifically). Mara claims she overheard Sarah saying that, but I don’t know … Continue reading Elyse Watches The Bachelor–S26 E7: Pudding Doesn’t Understand Capitalism →

RECOMMENDED: The Queer Principles of Kat Webb by Cat Sebastian is $1.99! It’s also a Kindle Daily Deal. Snap this one up if you missed the last sale. Lara wrote a Lightning Review for this on and gave it an A:
At a time when I didn’t have a lot of energy, I was gifted with pounds of joy, laughter, intrigue, and suspense. The Queer Principles of Kit Webb was a fresh approach to historical romance that made me fall in love with the genre again.

This HaBO request is from Michelle, who is looking for this romance: Contemporary romance/mystery I read around 2008/2009. A woman lives in New York City, I think? She has 2 best friends. I don’t remember what any of them did, but they were all successful 20-somethings. There’s a serial killer on the loose that has killed at least a couple of young women their age. I think the killer at one point breaks into the … Continue reading HaBO: Romantic Suspense in NYC →
I could practically hear Luisa’s song from Encanto (Surface Pressure) playing in my head as I read this book about an older sister who shoulders all of her family’s burdens. Mercy Kittinger raised her younger sister, Grace, after their mother’s death fifteen years ago. She’s managed the family farm, the household staff, and kept her family afloat even though that job was supposed to fall to her older brother, Bede. Bede is more interested in … Continue reading The Rake Gets Ravished by Sophie Jordan →

The Princess Knight by G.A. Aiken is $1.99 and it’s also part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals, which feature a ton of romance! This is book two in the Scarred Earth Saga. I loved and reviewed the first book and Lara reviewed this one, giving it a B:
The cast of characters EXPLODES in this book. Pay attention to each and every new character; they are all important. We pop into a lot of different POVs which can be a little dizzying, but adds beautifully to the immersive world building of it all.

a.k.a. Pandagate: A Drama In Three Acts Act One: That Bear Has Seen Some Shit Interior, day. Smart Bitches HQ. It’s a large room filled floor to ceiling with books, like the library in Beauty and the Beast. Many of them are pink. Between shelves, there is an occasional tasteful painting of nipples shaped like fruit. The Bitchery are draped across various large fluffy chairs, reading or napping. Elyse is curled up on a sofa … Continue reading The Writer’s Baby Bear by Sophie Stern →
