RECOMMENDED: Accidentally Engaged by Farah Heron is $2.99! Kiki reviewed this one and gave it an A-:
I cannot emphasize enough how hungry this book will make you.
Accidentally Engaged might be my top pick for “don’t read while hungry.” Between our heroine Reena’s bread baking (there’s rye, there’s challah, there’s an ongoing battle with a sourdough starter) and her Indian and East African cooking, I was craving a feast pretty much the whole time I was reading this book.

This HaBO comes from AW, who wants to find this romance they read a couple months ago: The male main character is running for office (I think senate) and he wants the endorsement of the female main character who runs a community center type place. His opponent in the election has already tried to get the female main character’s endorsement and failed. I remember the male main character not being completely honest about him wanting … Continue reading HaBO: Hero Wants Heroine’s Campaign Endorsement →

RECOMMENDED: Payback’s a Witch by Lana Harper is $1.99! Ellen gave this one a B:
Overall, this book had many strong elements, with a few minor missteps. I think you pretty much get what you expect in terms of a relatively light, atmospheric, sexy sapphic romance perfect for spooky season. If there are additional series entries, I will absolutely be reading them.

I really enjoyed Laziness Does Not Exist as a “grind/productivity culture is a big pile of garbage” manifesto, and I also really like Dr. Price’s writing. I didn’t think I was the audience for this book, which is about the masking Autistic people do to conform with neurotypical expectations, and is written by an Autistic person for fellow Autistic people. Whoodamn, I was wrong about that. This is a thoughtful, compelling, and detailed look at … Continue reading Unmasking Autism: The Power of Embracing Our Hidden Neurodiversity by Devon Price →

Forbidden Promises by Synithia Williams is $2.99! This was a previous Hide Your Wallet pick and the first in the Jackson Falls small town romance series, which features a lot of complicated and dramatic family dynamics, judging from the comments last time it was on sale.

Danielle Jackson’s new book, The Accidental Pinup, is out now, and I bet you’ve seen the cover in many, many places. It’s terrific. Danielle and I chat about her book, what happened when she saw the cover, and about every professional role she’s had within publishing. She’s been a publicist – she was my publicist for one of my books! She’s also a bookseller, and now she’s an author. So her perspective on the book … Continue reading 519.
