Deception by Gaslight by Kate Belli is $1.99! This is a historical mystery that I mentioned on a previous Book Beat post. Definitely gives Batman in Gilded Age NYC vibes!
SBTB is more independent, and probably 48% more silly

This Rec League comes from Viktória. Thanks, Viktória! I am on a marathon of rewatching Bridgerton and the thought came to me: are there any historical romance books where the main character is the father chaperoning his daughter(s) into society? Or guiding sons through the hardships of overbearing mamas? Anthony is such a papa bear, er, I mean brother bear as Daphne tries to find a husband – do we know of any books not … Continue reading The Rec League: Papa Bears
Hey there! Welcome back, everyone! First one, thank you all for the gardening tips. So far, the cat grass is growing and just yesterday I noticed the tiniest little green beginning to emerge from my cilantro pot. To me, that’s a success. The heat wave has broke here and I hope the same for all of you. It was pretty brutal. I also had to take my darling cat Linus to the vet. The old, … Continue reading Links: Joni Mitchell, Romance News, & More

RECOMMENDED: Bold Fortune by M.M. Crane is $1.99! Thank you to everyone who let us know about this sale! Lara reviewed this one and gave it B+:
I’m delighted to have discovered this series, and so pleased to have traveled and spent time with a character who reminded me of, well, past me. While the conflict upon reflection was a little sparse, I am very much looking forward to book two.
It’s come to this, my friends. During a panel at Baycon, a panelist mentioned having read a book about donut shifters. I could not let this rest. This is a poly fated mate shifter erotica with what I can only assume is a UTI waiting to happen. I had so many questions! Questions like: How? And Why? I read the book. Dear Bitches, I give you Her Donut Shifters by Mia Harlan, with spoilers. This … Continue reading Her Donut Shifters by Mia Harlan

RECOMMENDED: The Last Wolf by Maria Vale is FREE! I really enjoyed this book and its departure from the usual shifter mythology. Vale does a great job creating a sense of place. Be warned though, there is violence in the book and it is very descriptive. The next two books are also discounted.
This HaBO is from Tobu, who is looking for this historical romance novel: I’m looking for a Regency romance that I read as a teenager, a few chapters at a time (after the kids were asleep!) while babysitting regularly for a particular family. The mom had an impressive collection of romance novels! The heroine was dark-haired (curls, I think) and disguising herself as a young man (can’t remember why), and was knocked down in the … Continue reading HaBO: He Teaches Her How to Tie a Cravat

Lake Silence by Anne Bishop is $1.99! According to Amazon this is book one in a spin-off from Bishop’s The Others series. I’m sure some knowledge would be helpful here, but would love some comments below if you’ve read it!
Welcome back to Cover Snark! Let’s get into it! From Pam G: I saw this metal boy and I have no words. And I always have words. (edited) Sarah: Is that a tail? Is his ass about to do battle with his horns? …Is that a sentence I just typed in all seriousness? Wow, today is weird. Tara: Maybe they connect, so he can hang things off the horns without worrying they’ll slide off? Shana: … Continue reading Cover Snark: Just Give Us Pockets!

The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith is $1.99! Carrie read this one and gave it a C+, noting it was the wrong book for her at the time, as it’s dark and rather angsty. Have you read it?
