Romance will never stop bestowing glorious acts of graphic design upon us, so join us for some Cover Snark live! Amanda and I went foraging in the wilds of romance covers and surprised one another with images to discuss. So many questions. Which M is the Preg in the MMMPreg? Where IS the Third M?! What is the job market like for alien vampires? If you woke up tomorrow as a wealthy immortal alien vampire, … Continue reading 525. Cover Snark Live! →

Admittedly, I wasn’t sure how to sum this up in a quippy title, so definitely sound off with some suggestions in the comments. This one comes from Katie: I would like to put in a request for a Rec League! As I posted in my comments in a previous Whatcha Reading: The Tyrant Alpha’s Rejected Mate by Cate C. Wells: Let me start by saying that this trope was something I didn’t know I really … Continue reading The Rec League: Book-Long Grovels →
Hey all! It’s Wednesday! Can you believe it?! I’m ready for the week to be over, truly. Anyone else feel the same? I saw Nope with a friend of mine last week. I still think Get Out is my favorite Peele horror film, but this was pretty close to beating it. My partner said the first half was definitely a horror movie, while the second half felt more action/adventure. I’d definitely agree with that assessment. Did anyone else … Continue reading Links: Olivia Dade, YouTube Rabbit Holes, & More →

The Wedding Ringer by Kerry Rea is $1.99! The cover gives me major Audrey Hepburn vibes and that’s probably intentional. A woman, down on her luck, agrees to be a bridesmaid for a stranger, it sounds like. I don’t have any strong affinities for weddings, but I can’t imagine needing a bridesmaid so badly that I hire one?

Don’t start Our Crooked Hearts unless you have time to finish it. It’s such a wonderful, spooky, thrilling story that it’s hard to put down. It’s a book about imperfect parents, teenage dissatisfaction, and female empowerment and it unfolds beautifully. It’s also a remarkable ghost story. While this book has horror elements to it, it wasn’t especially scary and would be appropriate for a teen. I do want to warn readers about some violence to … Continue reading Our Crooked Hearts by Melissa Albert →

This HaBO request is from Michelle, who is trying to find this book: Husband thinks his wife is dead, movies on, and then she returns. The female main character goes to another country for some reason. There is an accident (bus accident, I think), and the FMC is presumed dead. She actually has amnesia and is taken in by some older couple who uses her as unpaid labor. Eventually she remembers and makes her way … Continue reading HaBO: Hero Thinks She’s Dead; Dates Her Best Friend →
This is a book about loneliness, about living a life when constantly dealing with death, and about being seen and heard and understood. If you like grumpy, taciturn characters with squishy, gooey insides, characters who struggle to become who they are or be recognized for who they are, and, above all, you like a major epistolary element to your stories (I have raised all my hands to that list) you will really like this. Hart … Continue reading The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen →

RECOMMENDED: Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! Maya loved this one and gave it an A:
In the end, this story is overwhelmingly about saying yes to good things put directly in your path. If all you want to do is wrap yourself up in a Christmas love story with two adults just admirably adulting all the way through the book, I say grab a Christmas sweater and a hot chocolate, and get ready to have a stranger ask you why you look so happy reading the book you have in your hand!
