Welcome to Book Beat! Book Beat aims to highlight other books that we may hear about through friends, social media, or other sources. We could see a gorgeous ad! Or find a new-to-us author on a list of underrated romances! Think of Book Beat as Teen Beat or Tiger Beat, but for books. And no staples to open to get the fold-out poster.

RECOMMENDED: A Morbid Taste for Bones by Ellis Peters is $2.99! This is book one in The Chronicles of Brother Cadfael series, which I remember Sarah enjoying. Here’s what she said:
This book and the next few books of the series got me through the scariest parts of early Quarantimes.

Two Wrongs Make a Right is inspired, very loosely, by Much Ado About Nothing. It lacks most of the conflict of the play, but has its own charm. What you really need to know is that this is a cute book with neurodivergent characters and a fake-dating romance that is endearing if not fully believable. For each thing I liked about this book there was something I felt grumpy about. Here we go! Our heroes … Continue reading Two Wrongs Make a Right by Chloe Liese →

Tara and AJ and I connected to talk about books, wins, and wishes, and took a great side trip into why the term “quiet quitting” is hot garbage, and how to achieve contentment and peace by being as mediocre as possible. If you’re feeling burnt out, you might find a lot to love in this conversation. We also discuss AJ’s new favorite genre: gay longing in spooky landscapes. … Visit LifeMD.com/SARAH today to experience healthcare … Continue reading 541. It’s a bleak time in the professional world of media and book publishing. The Harper Collins Union remains on strike after more than a month, and HarperCollins is refusing to negotiate. Publishing shuts down at Christmas, so it’s likely they’ll be on strike into next year. (You can sign an open letter and donate to their strike fund – or shop their Bookshop store to help their fund). There are layoffs happening at so many … Continue reading The End of The USA Today Bestseller List →

The Fastest Way to Fall by Denise Williams is $1.99! I remember liking this one a lot. I’m also a sucker for text communications in romance. Be warned though that there is a lot of talk about diets and weight.

The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading December 2022 New Releases, Part Two →
Welcome back to Wednesday Links! How have you been?! As the holiday season and end of the year are approaching, how do you plan on celebrating? I’ve decided to bake a bunch of cookies from Dorie Greenspan’s big, beautiful cookie book. I’m trying all new recipes, so wish me luck. I also think I may rope my partner into a Christmas movie marathon. Movies that have made the list: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf, Scrooged, A … Continue reading Links: Animals, Adverts, & More →

The Raven Spell by Luanne G. Smith is $1.99 at Amazon! This is book one in a series that seems to combine fantasy, mystery, and historical settings. It’s been on my TBR pile since it came out earlier this year.
