RECOMMENDED: Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen is $2.99! This author became an auto-buy for me after I read this book as a part of a GoodReads reading challenge. I would liken this book to women’s fiction with a magical realism slant. It’s heartwarming and beautiful. I even wrote a Keeper Shelf squee for it; that’s how much I love this book.

Welcome back to Get Rec’d! Happy New Year! I can’t believe we’re already a week into 2023. This year, I personally want to focus on reading more backlist (so you may see more older titles come up but don’t hold me to that!). This time, I have a mystery, a beautiful graphic memoir, light fiction with romance, and sci-fi with time travel. Quite the assortment! Get any good book recommendations over the holidays? Let me … Continue reading Get Rec’d with Amanda – Volume 33 →
This guest review is from Babelfish, who is a California librarian, historical fiction enthusiast, lizard person, and ADHD-prone daydreamer. … Long-time reader, first-time contributor. I find the reviews on this site some of the most entertaining writing on the internet, and the number of quotes with which I spam my coworkers (and my best friend) is a mite excessive. I *really* appreciate you people, is what I’m saying. 🙂 Y’all got me into reading romances in … Continue reading Passion Play by Beth Bernobich →

SERIES RECOMMENDED: Murder on Cold Street by Sherry Thomas is $1.99! This is the fifth book in the much-loved Lady Sherlock series. You should probably read this in order, but if you’re looking to collect them all digitally, this is a good price.

A Very Merry Bromance is the fifth book in the Bromance Book Club series, and while it can be read as a standalone, the sheer number of characters from other books can be distracting. It’s a Christmas romance, but it deals quite a bit with toxic families and childhood trauma, so I wouldn’t consider it cozy reading, which is what I had been expecting. Gretchen Winthrop had a one-night-stand with country music star Colton Wheeler … Continue reading A Very Merry Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams →

RECOMMENDED: Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie is $2.99! Ellen read this one and gave it a B+:
I think it has elements to satisfy a wide reading audience: a sizzling slow-burn romance between people with actual significant obstacles to their relationship, a sweeping and epic plot about the rise and fall of empires, gut-wrenching internal character conflict, and wacky space hijinks.

I received an email from K, who asked, “I was wondering if you could do a TV show or Movie recommendation list. I have a few shows I’d like to share and I’m looking for new ones to try.” Yes, we can! We love to know what you’re reading but I’m also curious about what you’re watching! I’ve started a “watch list” in our family discord server to drop links to and titles of shows … Continue reading Whatcha Watching? Give us your TV, Film, and Streaming Recs! →
It’s the first Wednesday Links of 2023! How exciting is that? You all deserve some recognition for making it through 2022 and the holiday seasons. My holiday celebrating was pretty low key. I made some cookies, spent a lot of time with my partner, and we watched my favorite movie (The Fifth Element) on New Year’s Eve. We’re traveling in a couple weeks, so we weren’t looking to go out. We also finally played the … Continue reading Links: Snow, Romance Reading, & More →
