A Very Merry Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

A Very Merry Bromance

A Very Merry Bromance is the fifth book in the Bromance Book Club series, and while it can be read as a standalone, the sheer number of characters from other books can be distracting. It’s a Christmas romance, but it deals quite a bit with toxic families and childhood trauma, so I wouldn’t consider it cozy reading, which is what I had been expecting. Gretchen Winthrop had a one-night-stand with country music star Colton Wheeler … Continue reading A Very Merry Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

Books on Sale: Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie & More

RECOMMENDED: Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie is $2.99! Ellen read this one and gave it a B+:

I think it has elements to satisfy a wide reading audience: a sizzling slow-burn romance between people with actual significant obstacles to their relationship, a sweeping and epic plot about the rise and fall of empires, gut-wrenching internal character conflict, and wacky space hijinks.

It’s the first Wednesday Links of 2023! How exciting is that? You all deserve some recognition for making it through 2022 and the holiday seasons. My holiday celebrating was pretty low key. I made some cookies, spent a lot of time with my partner, and we watched my favorite movie (The Fifth Element) on New Year’s Eve. We’re traveling in a couple weeks, so we weren’t looking to go out. We also finally played the … Continue reading Links: Snow, Romance Reading, & More

Books on Sale: Say You’re Sorry by Karen Rose & More

RECOMMENDED: Say You’re Sorry by Karen Rose is $1.99! Carrie, who is not normally a romantic suspense reader, was tempted by the setting of Sacramento. She gave it a B+:

In general I don’t think Romantic Suspense will ever be my favorite genre, but I certainly found this example to be emotional and gripping, and it did a good job of including romance without making me feel that the violence was being used as some sort of adrenaline-providing backdrop.

The Stand-Up Groomsman by Jackie Lau

The Stand-Up Groomsman

The follow-up to Donut Fall in Love is an opposites-attract romance with a deeply introverted heroine and a larger-than-life hero. Although it can be read as a standalone, I enjoyed revisiting characters from the first novel. While I loved the romance, the depictions of the hero’s job fell flat, sometimes pulling me out of the story. Quiet, reserved Vivian Lao is going to be a bridesmaid in her roommate Lindsay’s wedding to actor Ryan Kwok. … Continue reading The Stand-Up Groomsman by Jackie Lau
