Lizzie and Dante by Mary Bly is $1.99! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this is Eloisa James’s pen name or rather real name. This is more women’s fiction than a contemporary romance.

Thanks to PamG for sending in this Rec League: I have a slightly weird and persnickety request for the Rec League, but I’m having trouble framing it clearly. Let’s call it sex adjacent hilarity. Every so often I come across a romance in which the love scenes may have variable heat levels, but are both engaging and funny. The result is a hybrid of giggle and sigh, with an occasional side of energetic face fanning. … Continue reading The Rec League: Silly & Sexy
Welcome back to Wednesday Links, everyone! We had our first D&D session of the new year, continuing our Curse of Strahd campaign. I made a cake because we had a ton of leftover baking/dessert ingredients from holiday cookie making. I’m playing a cleric, which is the first casting class I’ve played and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. I think I gel much better with a ranger and its subclasses. Are you … Continue reading Links: Book Announcements, Movies, & More

When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting is $1.99! This is a friends to lovers romance with two BFFs who are roommates. I thought this one was just okay, though felt the main characters annoyed me more than usual. Have you read this one?
It’s sharing time! Over the past few years, we’ve shared different versions of this reading tracking spreadsheet and each year it’s been improved by one of you! And I’ve received so many email messages and requests for more options from readers who absolutely adore it. This past few years has been a difficult one for reading for many people. Sometimes reading was all I wanted to do, and sometimes I struggled to get into a … Continue reading Track Your 2023 Reading With Our Community-Built Spreadsheet!

The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri is $2.99! This is Suri’s latest series and many of us were big fans of her debut fantasy romance Empire of Sand. I’m hoping this has the same balance of fantasy and romance.
This HaBO is from Linnea, who wants to find this romance.: I read this a while ago, probably before 2000, but not sure. It is a Regency. The hero is madly in love with dramatic and beautiful lady, but he’s an impoverished aristocrat. He must marry for money to save the estate he inherited that is on its last legs. He marries the daughter of a wealthy businessman. She is not beautiful, but starts helping … Continue reading HaBO: Heroine is Not the Hero’s First Choice

RECOMMENDED: Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen is $2.99! This author became an auto-buy for me after I read this book as a part of a GoodReads reading challenge. I would liken this book to women’s fiction with a magical realism slant. It’s heartwarming and beautiful. I even wrote a Keeper Shelf squee for it; that’s how much I love this book.
Our first Cover Snark of 2023 is brought to us by readers like you! From Lils: He appears to be melting into a pumpkin? I know people love pumpkin spice latte season, but … Sarah: PUMPKIN SHIFTER. And the bear is NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT. Amanda: First Snark of 2023 just had to include a bear. Sneezy: Okay, so here’s what I think is happening. The man made a deal with the bear for bear … Continue reading Cover Snark: Wonderful Reader Submissions
Welcome back to Get Rec’d! Happy New Year! I can’t believe we’re already a week into 2023. This year, I personally want to focus on reading more backlist (so you may see more older titles come up but don’t hold me to that!). This time, I have a mystery, a beautiful graphic memoir, light fiction with romance, and sci-fi with time travel. Quite the assortment! Get any good book recommendations over the holidays? Let me … Continue reading Get Rec’d with Amanda – Volume 33
This guest review is from Babelfish, who is a California librarian, historical fiction enthusiast, lizard person, and ADHD-prone daydreamer. … Long-time reader, first-time contributor. I find the reviews on this site some of the most entertaining writing on the internet, and the number of quotes with which I spam my coworkers (and my best friend) is a mite excessive. I *really* appreciate you people, is what I’m saying. 🙂 Y’all got me into reading romances in … Continue reading Passion Play by Beth Bernobich
