The Rec League: Unions & Labor Organizing

The Rec League - heart shaped chocolate resting on the edge of a very old book

This Rec League comes from Allison. Thanks, Allison! I am wondering if you can recommend any romance books featuring unions, labour organizing, or similar? Thanks! Tara: Hoosier Daddy by Ann McMan and Salem West has that! Amanda: Isn’t there a Milan with one? Sarah: Rose Lerner has one. I’m pretty sure Sweet Disorder is the one I’m thinking of, though that’s election organizing The Duchess War for sure. And of course North and South  Doesn’t … Continue reading The Rec League: Unions & Labor Organizing

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.

Welcome back, y’all! How are we doing?! I, for one, am exhausted this week. There’s a big conference being held at work and all the  movers and shakers are there. It’s positively tiring. In other news, I’m in the early stages of getting a pal for my old cat Linus. He was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last August and it’s brought out some anxious traits. And while we love him dearly, we also cannot chase him … Continue reading Links: Trans Rights, Plays, & More

Book Depository Set to Close April 26

Featured image for Book Depository Set to Close April 26

If you haven’t heard, UK book-tailer Book Depository is closing. The news was announced on their Twitter account and elsewhere: https://twitter.com/bookdepository/status/1643260488560652291 BookRiot reported that this closure may likely be part of Amazon’s plans to eliminate 18,000 jobs. Book Depository was acquired by Amazon in 2011. As someone who is often in the camp of coveting UK covers, I’m sad to see this news. Book Depository was unique: they were a reliable source of UK editions, … Continue reading Book Depository Set to Close April 26

HaBO: Kids Write Letter in Search of a New Mom

This HaBO is from Melissa, who wants to track down this Harlequin historical romance: This was a Harlequin Historical Romance (America in the 1700s / 1800s) published in the mid- to late-nineties. I got it with my Harlequin Historicals subscription. The main female character starts the story as a waitress in a bar or inn where a letter had been sent looking for a wife/mother for a family with a lot of kids. She quit … Continue reading HaBO: Kids Write Letter in Search of a New Mom

Lightning Review

Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai

Partners in Crime

I have a terrible memory for books. While it makes rereading a joy, things get tricky if I don’t write my review immediately after reading the book. But not in this case. With one thing after another, I’m only sitting down to write this review a good long while after I read the book, and the plot is crystal clear in my memory. This is a testament to two things: 1. The skill with which … Continue reading Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai
