Summer MKALs

I love a Mystery Knit Along (MKAL) and there are some great ones coming out this summer. For those of you who are unfamiliar, a MKAL is a project where you cast-on on a specified date, and the pattern is released in sections (usually once a week). You have a list of supplies you need ahead of time, but don’t actually know what the pattern will look like until you’ve finished knitting it. MKALs are … Continue reading Summer MKALs

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.

Welcome back to Wednesday Links! How was your weekend? My partner and I saw Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse. We loved it and are tempted to go see it again, but this time in IMAX. It was so much fun and wow, do I want to see Daniel Kaluuya play more fun roles. Have any of you watched it yet? It was also just a slow, lazy weekend. I abandoned all of my plans to be productive … Continue reading Links: Tattoos, Small Kitties, & More

Books on Sale: Miss Aldridge Regrets by Louise Hare & More

RECOMMENDED: Miss Aldridge Regrets by Louise Hare is $1.99! Thanks to everyone who let us know about this deal. Carrie reviewed this one and gave it a B:

Ultimately this mystery is weak on the actual mystery front. However, the description of an entertainer’s life in Soho and a passenger’s life on the Queen Mary is fascinating, and while Lena is an interesting person who always seems to be either doing or listening to or watching interesting things. On those levels, I really liked this book, and recommend it for fans of that time period.

Lightning Review

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig

One Dark Window

Let’s start with what this book does well. It’s a really interesting premise and the world-building is good (if slow). A long time ago, the balance of magic was upset and now the Spirit of the Woods is taking over with a magical mist that kills people. Cue: a need to save the kingdom and those infected by magic. While the King is ostensibly trying to do this, he is prepared to sacrifice the captain … Continue reading One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig

Help A Bitch Out

HaBO: Security Company Band of Misfits

This HaBO comes from Chantelle, who wants to find this series: I read a book a while back. I can’t remember character names I’m afraid, just a vague idea of plot… Right at the start of the book the male main character was tied by his ankles, hanging upside down. Vaguely remember having a younger guy with him and deciding to escape when the younger man couldn’t hold out much longer? He works for private … Continue reading HaBO: Security Company Band of Misfits

The Life Sim Games That Got Me Through Nursing School

Hello, Bitchery!!! If you missed me, it’s because I spent basically all of 2021 and 2022 in graduate nursing school, and then the first couple months of 2023 studying for a licensing exam. Through this process, I have found that one of the only ways I find I can actually unwind from cramming my brain full of massive amounts of information at a rapid pace is by playing video games. As you might imagine, I … Continue reading The Life Sim Games That Got Me Through Nursing School
