Neon Gods by Katee Robert is $1.99! This is the first book in the Dark Olympus series. This is close to the top of my TBR pile and I’ve heard so many good things. A friend read it and wished it were spicier. Are you a fan?

My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones is $2.99! Not sure if this is a leftover Kindle Daily Deal from yesterday. This was a big release last year and the library holds still might be rather long. Did you read this one?

Someone Perfect is a slow burn, slowly paced romance that offers a highly emotional secondary conflict. Aside from the plethora of secondary characters who I couldn’t always keep track of, I really enjoyed this book, but you definitely need to be in the mood for a romance that takes time to build. Justin Wiley assumed the role of Earl of Brandon six years ago. In that time his stepsister, Maria, has been living at one … Continue reading Someone Perfect by Mary Balogh →
Today I’m speaking with historical romance legend Mary Balogh. No, my inner 13-year old was not chill. This was recorded by phone, so the audio is a little different. We discuss her newest book, Someone to Romance, and her re-releases, including her latest, Truly, and the Welsh history behind that story. We also talk about writing ongoing series, found family, and what books she’s loving lately! Thanks to Elyse, Claudia, Aarya, Regencyfan, and Debbie for … Continue reading 413. RECOMMENDED: Uprooted by Naomi Novik is $2.99! A lot of people have recommended this book and Novik’s writing, but some readers did mention on Goodreads that the book is a bit slow at times. Do you love Novik’s writing? What did you think of this one?

Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill is $2.99! Urban fantasy with some hints of romance, Some Girls Bite is the first book in the Chicagoland Vampire series. The cover had a pretty big facelift, by the way, and I think it’s actually an improvement. Some found the books elements a little silly (i.e. continuous Buffy references), while others really enjoyed them. Have you read this one?

RECOMMENDED: Song of Blood & Stone by L. Penelope is $1.99! This is the first book in the Earthsinger Chronicles and is an amazing fantasy romance. Penelope’s writing is so underrated, in my opinion. I also recommend her podcast episode with Sarah; Penelope has her own podcast as well: My Imaginary Friends.

Slightly Married by Mary Balogh is $2.99! This is the first book in the Bedwyn Saga, which is a favorite amongst romance readers. Though Balogh’s newer historicals haven’t really worked for me, I’m curious about this one. Have you read it?

RECOMMENDED: A Week to Be Wicked by Tessa Dare is $1.99! This is the second book in the Spindle Cove series and Carrie gave this book an A-:
If you are also a person who perks up at the sound of the word “Tessellation” or who longs to travel through Britain with a viscount and a dinosaur foot, then check this book out right away.

Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie is $2.99! I know Carrie really loves this book (and the entire series, I believe). It’s also a Hugo Award winner! Readers really loved the scifi world building, though some admitted wanting more action in the first book of the Imperial Radch series. This book is a Kindle Daily Deal of scifi and thrillers. Other books included in the deal are The Fifth Season, New York 2140, and more!

Someone to Wed somehow manages to both be a feel-good read and full of emotional catharsis. It hurts so good, you guys. I had all the feelings. So many feelings. Like a number of Balogh’s books, it’s a romance about healing – especially creating the space in which to heal – and that’s a plotline that works so well for me. At the age of twenty-nine, Wren Heyden is firmly on the shelf. Up until … Continue reading Someone to Wed by Mary Balogh →
