Whatcha Reading? April 2024, Part One

Featured image for Whatcha Reading? April 2024, Part One

Hey y’all! I’m driving the Whatcha Reading? bus this week, as Amanda is traveling the globe. Spring has SPROINGED around me. This is a picture I took recently of my neighbor’s camellia (I think that’s a camellia) against the sky. In a truly dorky move, I’m trying to match the colors for a quilt in progress because I love blue, green, and pink together. Here’s what’s on the currently-reading list at SBTB HQ – with … Continue reading Whatcha Reading? April 2024, Part One

Book Review

Warrior Girl Unearthed, by Angeline Boulley

Warrior Girl Unearthed

Warrior Girl Unearthed is thrilling, upsetting, and edifying. There are some structural problems with this book, it still delivered the squee factor, in that I was totally absorbed and emotionally invested in this story. This is a stand-alone novel set in the same community as in the book The Firekeeper’s Daughter, another excellent read. Both books tackle difficult issues that face indigenous young women in America with empathy, perception, tenderness, and grit. Neither is a … Continue reading Warrior Girl Unearthed, by Angeline Boulley

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.

Hey ho! Let’s go! Though I scheduled this post a couple weeks ago, I’m an officially in South Korea by the time you’re reading this. I’m sure I’m having a great time. We plan to do an overnight stay at a Buddhist temple and I’m most definitely going to load up on Korean beauty and skincare products. There’s also a chance some areas will still have cherry blossoms. Karaoke and ungodly amounts of Korean BBQ … Continue reading Links: Anne Hathaway, Rat Music, & More

Books on Sale: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang & More

RECOMMENDED: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang is $1.99! We had a wonderful guest squee of this and it was Amanda’s favorite read of 2018:

I truly loved this book. Loved. It made me feel like a champagne bubble – all fizzy and light. When I think of all the magical feelings romance gives its readers, I will forever think of this book.

Amanda says she’s “jealous of those who get to read this for the first time,” which is pretty massive praise. If you’ve read this one, at $1.99, maybe you can gift it to a friend!

HaBO: Jade Jewelry from Gump’s

This HaBO comes from Mary, who wants to locate this comfort series: My tale is long, so get a cup of tea, coffee, or wine. I’m an older citizen of Romancelandia, having cut my Romance eye teeth on Heyer, Cartland, and Woodiwiss in the 70s and 80s. Our large family lived within walking distance of a library. My parents never censored what we read, so I read The Godfather and others while I was still … Continue reading HaBO: Jade Jewelry from Gump’s
