The Belle of Belgrave Square by Mimi Matthews is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! Lara reviewed this and gave it a B-:
If you’re looking for a Victorian historical with a heroine who is brave despite herself, in a book that won’t rip your heart out or drag you through rivers of angst and misery, then I think you’ll enjoy this romance.

I had a whopping good time talking with Jennifer Armentrout about her new book, Fall of Ruin and Wrath, about ApollyCon – which is now almost 10 years old! We’re going to talk about the behind the scenes of ApollyCon, her launch title for the new Bramble imprint of fantasy romance, plus she takes questions from some of you about disability advocacy, living with a visual impairment, and what changes she’s seen in publishing. Music: … Continue reading 580. Stop and Look at the Stars, with Jennifer L. Armentrout →

Do not fear the page length of The Good Ally, which, in paperback form, is enormous. The book has a generous font size, it’s easy to read in terms of language, and the author, Nova Reid, is firm but empathetic in her approach to those of us who want to be actively and effectively anti-racist but may find ourselves sidelined by ignorance, fear, shame, and our own internalized White supremacy. Even if you’ve done a … Continue reading The Good Ally by Nova Reid →
Welcome back, everyone! How are we all doing? I can’t stop thinking about this Smitten Kitchen recipe for Pizza Beans. We ate almost all of it in one go and have been mourning the loss of leftovers. Do y’all have any recent recipes that you’re loving? I’m also hoping we’re slowly sliding into fall soon in New England. I’m a sucker for “soup season” and big, oversized sweaters. … Sarah: I was the guest this … Continue reading Links: Podcasts, Reading Recs, & More →

RECOMMENDED: A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily deal today. Tara gave this one an A-:
I’m a gigantic sucker for retellings, whether they’re of fairy tales, myths, or classic novels, and A Spindle Splintered might be my favourite so far. Its take on a multiverse feels fresh because there are no superheroes, only badass girls saving themselves.

The Witch of Wild Things has a romance, but it’s less of a romance novel and more a novel about familial bonds and trauma. It reminded me a lot of Practical Magic, but has its own vibe due to the personalities and histories of the characters, the setting, and the Latinx history of the family. I liked the overall atmosphere of the book and its prickly protagonist, but I thought events near the ending offered … Continue reading Witch of Wild Things by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland →

RECOMMENDED: Ten Things I Hate About the Duke by Loretta Chase is $1.99! Catherine loved this one and wrote a Squee review for it:
Ten Things I Hate About The Duke was a joy to read. The humour and banter was delightful, but this was also a book with a lot of heart.

This HaBO comes from Toni-Rose, who is hoping to identify this romance: I read a book last year, or at least I think I did, because I can’t remember the name and I can’t find it. The premise of the story is that a shifter rejected her mate and then was locked up in a cell as she was to be executed. The executioner sent to kill her ends up changing his mind and sparing … Continue reading HaBO: Heroine Saved from Fae Zoo by an Incubus →
