Twilight is 20, and I’m Recommending Books in The New York Times

Twilight and SBTB were born in the same year, so now we're both 20! Let's make some recs about it.

What are Your Pets Up To?

A white dog with floppy ears in a grey fleece sweatshirt sits on the back of the sofa and hides behind a rubber tree plant so her nose and eyes are visible, and her feet, but not her mouth

Lara suggested this as a community query, and I’m so here for it: what drama, mayhem, shenanigans or cuteness are your pets up to lately?  In my house, we have one dog and two cats. Buzz, who to my knowledge has never been a solo dog before, has adjusted to life without his brother, Zeb, who left us in August. He takes excellent naps with his feet in the air and has been spotted hanging out … Continue reading What are Your Pets Up To?

Toast still isn’t sure what petting actually is, but he’s trying and sometimes, he’s just not into it and that’s … Continue reading Links: Golden Retrievers, Star Wars, & More

Books on Sale: Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson & More

Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson is $1.99! This was Catherine’s last review for the site and she gave it a B-:

Overall, this was a really fun read, especially if you enjoy stories about writers and writing. I liked the humour, and I really enjoyed the friendship between M.E. and Savannah. While I had some (ok, many) misgivings about their professional relationship, I found their romantic relationship both convincing and charming.

HaBO: Historical Fiction with Sketches

This HaBO is from Braylin, who wants to find this book. Content warning for abuse in the description below: I read a book when I was about 12-13 years old. It was way out of my reading level but I was so intrigued by it because it had a few illustrations of the characters drawn in black and white, like really old portraits. I believe it was a historical fiction book. The main character is … Continue reading HaBO: Historical Fiction with Sketches

Guest Review: Candy Matson, Yukon-28209

CANDY MATSON square icon featuring a retro-style illustration of a red headed woman with 40s hair and a man in a fedora coming in behind her startling her. she looks very annoyed

This review is from Jen Barr. Jen is an over-educated wonk who likes writing cool real-life stories and reading cool made-up stories. To her surprise, she currently lives in Denver, but will always be a Californian at heart.  … As the weather cools and the evening comes earlier, at the end of the day, I like to pour a cup of tea, grab my latest cross stitch project, and tune in to old radio shows … Continue reading Guest Review: Candy Matson, Yukon-28209

Sailing the Seven Seas of Romance Reading Challenge: September and October Update

Featured image for Sailing the Seven Seas of Romance Reading Challenge: September and October Update

Sorry for being MIA for a month, but I was hopelessly sidetracked by my new obsession with medieval fantasy romance and I kind of forgot about any other reading options. Over the last two months I managed 3 books! South Africa Primarily, I read books so that I can immerse myself in a world that is completely different from my own. So I have never read a South African romance before. This was my first … Continue reading Sailing the Seven Seas of Romance Reading Challenge: September and October Update
