I had a crappy, stressful week and I was tired and I don’t care about soccer AND YET I found Cleat Cute to be delightful. Honestly if this book worked for me on this particular week it ought to work for anybody. This Grumpy/Sunshine f/f romance has clear traces to Ted Lasso but not so many as to feel derivative. It’s just a really nice story about two decent human beings falling in love. Grace … Continue reading Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner →
Welcome back, everyone! It’s our first links of 2024! How are we all feeling? For New Year’s Eve, my partner and I attend a prix fixe, 5-course dinner at around 5:30 and then chilled out and played video games until right before midnight. We watched the ball drop and were in bed by 12:15am! Some of my Christmas items were a lovely, plush electric blanket. Seriously, it’s a godsend. I also received tickets to see … Continue reading Links: Spiders, Home Alone, & More →

A Caribbean Heiress in Paris by Adriana Herrera is $2.99! This is book one in the Las Leonas series. Shana and Claudia gave this one a B-:
We think readers who like their romances rooted in real history, who also appreciate hopeful historical stories that acknowledge the discrimination characters had to face, might like this. The pacing and the other issues we mentioned made this fall a bit short.

It’s sharing time! Over the past few years, we’ve shared different versions of this reading tracking spreadsheet and each year it’s been improved by one of you! And I’ve received so many email messages and requests for more options from readers who absolutely adore it. Seeing my reading totals grow slowly this year has been both frustrating and edifying: I knew I was having trouble reading, but I could also spot the slowdown early enough … Continue reading Track Your 2024 Reading With Our Community-Built Spreadsheet! →

RECOMMENDED: Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor is 99c! Redheadedgirl read this one and gave it a B:
If you’re a fan of Connie Willis, I would suggest you give this series a try. It doesn’t take itself quite so seriously, and Max as a heroine and audience surrogate is a lot of fun. It’s potentially a commitment, given that there are 9 books and a bunch of novellas, but I’m looking forward to making a dent in my TBR pile to read the next book.

This HaBO is from Megan, who is looking for this motorcycle club romance: Hello! r/RomanceBooks led me here and I’m hoping you can help a B out! I will copy and paste what I posted to Reddit: He’s a biker; She’s a single mom—Can I make it ANYMORE OBVIOUS I was inspired to go back into my motorcycle club books and do some rereads, but freaking Kindle somehow auto-updates to **Currently Reading** for everything else … Continue reading HaBO: Biker and the Breastmilk →

It’s the first Tuesday of 2024 and that means we’re looking at the first batch of new releases this year! January starts slow for us, but by mid-month we’re going to have so many books to talk about. Not to tease you but I get to look at the spreadsheet with everyone’s picks and it’s shaping up to be a great book month. What’s on your release list this week? Let us know!

RECOMMENDED: The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare is $1.99! This is the first book in the Girl Meets Duke series. Elyse really loved this book and gave it an A grade:
I totally recommend reading The Duchess Deal, but preferably while sober so you can really appreciate all of it. It’s the perfect blend of two of my favorite fairytale tropes, it’s got a hero who never an alpha-hole, it’s funny, and it’s got female friendship. What more could you want?

Happy New Year! Let’s kick things off with some pretty covers. Cover design by Hang Le Sarah: This is book 2 in the series that’s officially called Bound to Fire and Steel but is more colloquially known as “horny dragon book.” Amanda: The colors are striking and the elements of fire give things an almost neon sign vibe. Sarah: Agreed, the use of light and color makes it almost glow. Amanda: I love smiles! It … Continue reading Cover Awe: Pinks, Purples, & Smiles →
