Hey, ho! Let’s go (read some Wednesday Links)! I had a big productive weekend and I’m still riding that high or I was…until I started getting the telltale pre-period discomfort. Welp, it was nice while it lasted. Speaking of periods, I posted about this on the SBTB Instagram. I discovered the Menstruation Crustacean in a local store and then discovered there are two more varieties: a crab and a shrimp. I think shape-wise, I’d prefer … Continue reading Links: Libraries, Rodeos, & More →

The Minuscule Mansion of Myra Malone by Audrey Burges is $1.99! I believe this was my pick on a previous Hide Your Wallet and I was really intrigued by the concept. However, I never got around to reading it; ain’t that just the way.

Y’all know I love my Brontës and I get so annoyed when either adaptations of their work or stories based on their lives get EVERYTHING WRONG, DAMMIT. My Brother’s Keeper is an eerie story involving the Brontë family, werewolves, and warring cults, and, darn it, it gets everything just absolutely perfect. I was so impressed with this book even though the whole warring cults thing was the least interesting thing about it. I’m copying the … Continue reading My Brother’s Keeper by Tim Powers →

Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

This HaBO comes from Kierra, who wants to find this YA book: I read this book a friend gave me when I was in 6th grade (I’m 20 now for reference). It’s about a girl in a post-apocalyptic (maybe, not sure?) world, and she has this love interest named Cole. There are a few other characters. I remember this one guy who dates a girl named Kayla (maybe?). She ends up dying and I think … Continue reading HaBO: Apocalyptic Cole →

Get ready for another beefy release week! This taper off slightly midway through the month, but then get stacked again toward the end. We have some series continuations and a series starter. Lots of contemporary romances, but some mysteries and even a historical. What are you looking forward to this week? Anything already preordered?

A Duet with a Siren Duke by Elise Kova is $2.99! This is part of the Married to Magic series, which is often featured on Hide Your Wallet. Have any of you picked these up? What do you think of the series?

Welcome back to Cover Awe, where we look at covers that caught our eye. Sarah: This is a mystery but I really like this cover I spotted in a Netgalley email. Lara: Spooky bread! I’m here for it! Amanda: And a pun! It wouldn’t be a cozy mystery without a pun on the cover. Sarah: It’s the yeast they can do. Sneezy: The little ghostie face rising with the steam is so cute! I hope … Continue reading Cover Awe: Flowers, Perspectives, & More →

Welcome back to Get Rec’d! Last time, I featured mostly fiction and one true crime book. This time, it’s half and half, but I’ll be honest that none of these are uplifting. For the fiction, get your tissues ready. The non-fiction titles skew more toward activism and systemic racism. What recommendations have you received lately? Are they on any particular theme?

Brace yourselves, Bitches, for a very abbreviated description of the life of Margaret Beaufort, one of the most Kickass Women in Tudor history, a period of time during which Kickass Women rather abounded despite their lack of legal rights. Here’s the basics. Lady Margaret Beaufort was born on May 31,1443. She was a descendant of King Edward III. Margaret became the sole heir of her father’s fortune in infancy and survived all manner of complicated … Continue reading Kickass Women in History: Margaret Beaufort →
