Hey, everyone! Welcome back to Wednesday Links! I joined the office softball league and our first game was up against a team who takes the game way too seriously, especially playing up against a group of people with a team where 80% of us have never played softball before. Oh well, we still had a fun time amongst our group! My partner was also recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and we just found this great … Continue reading Links: Sailor Moon, Events & More →

RECOMMENDED: A Most Unusual Duke by Susanna Allen is $1.99! This is the second book in a series and it earned a Squee grade from Catherine:
You know how sometimes you pick up a book because it looks like fun, and then it turns out to be clever and funny and tender and tropey and still somehow unique, and you read it all in one sitting and hop straight onto the Kobo site after midnight to order the previous book in the series?

I don’t recall exactly how this trilogy came to my attention. Strangely, it may have been their long titles, which may have signaled to me an Austen-esque voice, one that at the same time did not take itself too seriously. In any case, I was very happy I picked up the first novella, In Which Margo Halifax Earns Her Shocking Reputation, and from then on I waited impatiently for weeks and weeks before the second … Continue reading In Which Winnie Halifax is Utterly Ruined by Alexandra Vasti →

RECOMMENDED: Do You Want to Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare is $1.99! This is part of the Castles Ever After series, but can be read on its own. Elyse loved this book:
I loved Do You Want to Start a Scandal. It’s funny, it’s sexy and it’s got some Clue-like shenanigans going on. If you have better self control than I do, I recommend savoring this book rather than powering through in one sitting (good luck).

This HaBO request is from Jay, who wants to find this romance (and yes, it does sound similar to last week’s but there’s no relation): I’ve been trying to figure out the name of this book for years, so I may be misremembering things at this point, but you guys are my last hope! The main thing I remember is that the heroine and hero (and possibly a villain) are stuck in a cycle of … Continue reading HaBO: Medieval Romance with Reincarnations →

May is quieting down for us and I’m pretty sure our wallets are thanking us. This week and next looks less packed, but the beginning of June appears to be merciless on our book budgets. What books are you excited for this week? Let us know in the comments!

Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li is $4.99! As I was putting today’s sale list together with a focus on mysteries, I realized all of these have been mention in my Get Rec’d posts. However, I’d describe this one as more fiction with some heisty, Ocean’s Eleven undertones.

Within the first paragraph of reading this I knew I wanted to review it. When the writing itself is just so good, you have to share it. About a chapter in, I actually stopped and restarted the book because I was reading it too quickly and I wanted to savour it. The book didn’t quite live up to the promise of those first few pages, but I still devoured it in one sitting. The book … Continue reading The Shabti by Megaera C. Lorenz →
