RECOMMENDED: Just Playing House by Farah Heron is $3.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! Shana recently reviewed this one and gave it an A:
After I finished Just Playing House, I immediately ran around telling everyone I knew to read it. I’m totally obsessed with this second chance + celebrity romance. It was cozy but with enough emotional twists and turns to keep me interested.

First and of most importance: if you decide to read this book, please take the listed Content and Trigger Warnings seriously, because some were big unhappy surprises to me and to other readers. This book started out so strong and then collapsed at the end. After about 65%, I was rage reading. And I can’t discuss any of what went wrong for me without spoilers, so be ye warned – spoilers ahoy. The cover copy … Continue reading Bane Witch by Ava Morgyn →
First, let me just put this book right at the top so you don’t miss it. What’s this? Careless People is a memoir about Meta aka Facebook, written by Sarah Wynn-Williams, a former employee of Facebook from 2011 to 2017. This memoir is revealing to everybody how very, very fucked up things are over there. Spoiler: it is indeed very, very fucked up. But wait, there’s more. This is quite a tale, and it’s still … Continue reading Careless People and Barbra Streisand →

Today brings a vulnerable and honest conversation about the prevalence of penetrative sex in romance, and what happens if a writer decides to create a character with pelvic floor pain, for whom that kind of sex isn’t possible? Let’s find out! Jane Buehler’s new book, The Fire Apprentice, is out this week, and we’re going to talk about the book, and the series. But we’re also talking about the asexual spectrum, body changes from menopause, … Continue reading 658. Romance and Penetrative Sex: A Conversation With Jane Buehler →

I am typing this review in bits and pieces, one-handed at times, because I’m on maternity leave with my infant. Through sleepless nights, tummy time and cleaning up various poop-apocalypses, I have devoured this book. That I am making time to write this review now speaks of how desperately I want people to read this book. I know usually I include a bit of a plot summary, but this blurb is so perfectly written, I’m … Continue reading Fan Service by Rosie Danan →
Welcome back to Wednesday Links! Time for a little check-in. How are we doing? I’m certainly spending more time with my partner. We had a lovely afternoon of gaming last weekend. We took turns doing runs of Slay the Spire; whoever wasn’t playing would be working on their laptop or reading. I’m eying the new Split Fiction game, because I really liked It Takes Two. Have any of you picked it up yet? I’m also in a cozy game … Continue reading Links: Faerie Smut, Cats, & More →

RECOMMENDED: At First Spite by Olivia Dade is $1.99! Lara gave this a B+:
If you’re looking for a book of sparkle and light, then this is not the book for you. It’s heavy going emotionally, but so well-written that I could not put it down. My normal routine went out the window because I NEEDED to know how things would unfold. The cast of supporting characters are sincerely charming and I do look forward to the next book in the series.

Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy is $2.99! This one is a slightly cozy, queer fantasy with rivals who are now magically connected after a curse goes wrong. Last time this was on sale, the comments mention it’s a slow burn and the first book does not have an HEA in it.
