This was my first time reading Kimberly Kincaid, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the book. Fire Me Up is a quick moving story about two passionate young people determined to follow through on their self-appointed paths of duty. The book held my attention and kept me wanting more – not to that crazy point where you try to hold the book with one hand while you squeeze the toothpaste onto … Continue reading Fire Me Up by Kimberly Kincaid →

Take a Chance on Me by Jennifer Dawson is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with a runaway bride and a bartender. It’s also the first book in the Something New series. Readers thought this was a great first book in a new series, though some found the story to be a little too cute. Anyone taking a chance on this book? (Harhar, see what I did there?)

This selection was nominated in the Romance Novella category; I don’t read many novellas, because I tend to prefer characters with deep questions that I can watch them struggle to answer throughout the book. Shorter novellas do not usually fulfill me in that regard. Now that I’ve shared that bias, here’s my review: We are first introduced to Harper, a free-spirited artist who hates to sit still. While both of those adjectives would not be used … Continue reading Pushing the Line by Kimberly Kincaid →

RECOMMENDED: Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey is .99 until tomorrow! This is book 1 in the Kowalskis series, and it’s just terrific. I reviewed this book when it came out in 2010 and wrote, “I had such a good old time reading this book. There were some flaws to the plot but while reading it, I was charmed and giggly and totally absorbed. This book made me happy. That’s probably the best way to put it: it made me smile. A lot. Books like this are why I read romance.” It was a Sizzling Book Club selection as well. If you like contemporary comedy, this is a great deal.

Too steamy for the penalty box… The New Orleans Cajun Rage professional hockey team just won the Cup. No one thought they’d do it: they were a team of shoulda beens, never coulda beens and a star or two. They’d only been in the Crescent City for three years before this year’s Cinderella run that had them skating off the ice with the championship. Over the following summer, each player gets to keep the Cup … Continue reading Hot on Ice →
Today is a good day for Cover Snark! Fair warning that you probably should abstain from eating or drinking while reading this post. Amanda: This cover does not look like it belongs in this decade. Sarah: I would SWEAR to you this is a still from an 80’s hairband music … Continue reading Cover Snark: Sassy Gargoyles, the Pit Check, & Bulging Biceps →
