RECOMMENDED: Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur is $3.99! Though the book copy mentions both Pride & Prejudice and Bridget Jones’s Diary, though our reviewers mention it’s more like the former than the latter. Aarya and Tara reviewed this one together and gave it an A-:
Tara: This book is so freaking cute, it should be illegal. And luckily, Aarya agrees with me, so we’re talking about it together!

Paradise Cove by Jenny Holiday is $1.99! This is the second book in the Matchmaker Bay series. We’ve heard good things about it and Aarya mentioned it on a Hide Your Wallet over the summer. Have you read it?

RECOMMENDED: The Game and the Governess by Kate Noble is $1.99 right now. I am a big fan of Noble’s writing, whether it’s The Librarians or The Lizzie Bennet Diaries or historical romance. I reviewed this book back when it came out and gave it a B-. It’s not my favorite of Noble’s books, but it’s as thoughtful and as memorable:
“The Game and the Governess is a thoughtful, intricate novel that deals very heavily with privilege, especially the privilege of the hero. The description that’s part of the cover copy says it best, I think: Trading Places meets Pride and Prejudice.
That’s pretty accurate.”

This week I am talking again with Kate Noble and Kate Rorick, conveniently the same person, about the upcoming tv show The Librarians. We talked about this during a podcast interview I did with her over the summer. So why am I bringing it up again? Carrie recently sent me an article from Variety magazine that says the tv series, which premieres December 7, is going to be also premiering within days around the world. So everyone … Continue reading 115. All About The Librarians with Kate Noble/Rorick, Plus Listener Mail →
The Game and the Governess is a thoughtful, intricate novel that deals very heavily with privilege, especially the privilege of the hero. The description that’s part of the cover copy says it best, I think: Trading Places meets Pride and Prejudice. That’s pretty accurate. Ned, better known as Lucky Ned, agrees to a wager with his secretary and former military superior officer, John Turner, that he can convince a young woman to fall for him, … Continue reading The Game and the Governess by Kate Noble →

Sarah interviews Kate Noble and Kate Rorick, who are conveniently the same person, about her upcoming historical romance, The Game and the Governess, and her upcoming novel, The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet, which is connected to The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. We talk about the adaptable fluidity of Pride & Prejudice and other classics, and about her current work writing for an upcoming television series that sounds really, really cool. Last year, half my Twitter feed was going bananas over The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, a webisode transmedia adaptation – excuse me! EMMY WINNING webisode transmedia adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. There were weekly videos, plus Twitter feeds, blogs, and a never ending supply of animated gif sets on Tumblr, too. Now, the team at Pemberley Digital is back with Emma Approved, a transmedia adaptation of Emma. Emma, matchmaking busybody, has been transformed into… Emma, matchmaking tastemaker and lifestyle expert. Her motto: I … Continue reading Emma Approved: An Interview with Kate Noble →
Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

Author Kate Noble wrote in with this HaBO request, hoping the Bitchery can identify a book she's been searching for: So – On occasion over the years I have toyed with trying to find that very first romance novel I ever read, which subsequently warped me into the mangled voracious romance reader/writer you see before you today. Alas, I have never succeeded, and thus I turn to you, my fellow voracious-types, to see if this … Continue reading HaBO: Kate Noble is Searching for a Romance Novel →
I was so excited about this book. After reading most of Kate Noble’s previous historical romances and recommending them to people who had historical London romance fatigue, I was hopping in my chair eager to read this book. It wasn’t as oh-my-gosh-good-book-sigh-for-two-hours as other books of Noble’s that I’ve loved, but it was still wonderfully intelligent and unique historical romance. While the emotional connection between the hero and heroine sometimes disappointed me, the setting and … Continue reading Let It Be Me by Kate Noble →

RECOMMENDED: You might recognize Kate Noble's name from reviews of her books here and at Kirkus, or you might be a fan of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries – she's one of the show's writers. If I Fall is $1.99, and is well worth it. It has a wonderfully flawed heroine, a character jilted by the hero of a different book. This story explores the aftermath of that experience. Noble is one of my favorite historical … Continue reading Books on Sale: Historicals from Kate Noble, Sally MacKenzie, and Anna Randol →
