Erin McCarthy is one of those writers who can get me to read things I might otherwise pass over. She writes steamy contemporary about race car drivers, which is pretty far from my usual fare of science fiction, fantasy, and historical. But I love McCarthy’s strong sense of place, character, and family and she’s on my auto-buy list. Full Throttle is not her strongest work but it's still a fun read. Full Throttle is the … Continue reading Review: Full Throttle by Erin McCarthy →

When I read this book, I was so bummed at the time that I couldn’t tell everyone around me about it, because it wasn’t out yet. Now it’s out! And I can tell you! GO READ THIS BOOK! There, how’s that? Ok, fine, here’s some more. Hot Finish is book three in the Fast Track series by Erin McCarthy about stock car racers. If you have preconceptions about car racing books, put them aside and … Continue reading Save the Contemporary: Hot Finish by Erin McCarthy →

Jane has mentioned before that the contemporary romances that doesn’t feature vampires, campy vampires, werewolves, immortal peril, mortal peril, suspense out the wahoo, or extraordinary extraterrestrial extraneous circumstances seem to be fewer and far between. Every now and again I hear declarations that the contemporary romance is a dying subgenre and it’s harder and harder to find, and that if you’re not an established name, you’ll never get anywhere, because fewer people want to read … Continue reading Buy a Contemporary, Save the World: Flat Out Sexy by Erin McCarthy →
Thanks to PamG for sending in this Rec League: I have a slightly weird and persnickety request for the Rec League, but I’m having trouble framing it clearly. Let’s call it sex adjacent hilarity. Every so often I come across a romance in which the love scenes may have variable heat levels, but are both engaging and funny. The result is a hybrid of giggle and sigh, with an occasional side of energetic face fanning. … Continue reading The Rec League: Silly & Sexy →

“Playing Doctor” is written by Lori Foster. Attitude makes a huge difference in bed. It could be Axel Dean’s motto. The sexy physician likes his women with sensual moxie, and Libby Preston definitely seems to fit that bill. There’s that naughty grin. That hot bod. Her eager kisses and cheeky insults. Her…admitted virginity. Whoa. Okay, cue cold shower. Axel may not be an honorable man, but he has his limits. Except Libby won’t take no … Continue reading When Good Things Happen to Bad Boys →
This request comes from Sam. Thank you, Sam! It’s been a rough year for me work-wise, and my confidence has taken a bit of a beating. I’m trying to pick myself up for a better year next year, but I’d love some inspiration/encouragement from my favorite genre. As such, I’d really love to read some romances about ladies getting their groove back. I’m looking for heroines who are wary to be burned again to clarify … Continue reading The Rec League: Get Your Groove Back →
They’re perfectly in tune—but only when it comes to their music. This sizzling romance from New York Times bestselling author Erin McCarthy follows Nashville’s hottest country music duo as they fight for love in a city where dreams often cost a broken heart. Self-made singer/songwriter Jolene Hart loves everything about being on top in Nashville. Well, everything except her very public breakup with Chance Rivers, her sexy masculine other half. Once the hottest duo … Continue reading Heart Breaker →

Hearts at Play by Melissa Foster is 99c! Released just last month, this is the ninth (Holy cow!) book in the Love in Bloom series and the sixth and final book in The Bradens series. With a Grand Prix racer as the hero, I'm getting some major flashbacks to Erin McCarthy's Fast Track series, which I totally love, by the way. Since the series is so long, some readers found they had to skim or … Continue reading Books on Sale: Contemporaries Ranging Across the Steam Scale →
