Ripped by Edie Harris

Ripped

Before I start talking about the book, let me preface it with TRIGGER WARNING TRIGGER WARNING TRIGGER WARNING. While I may not discuss it heavily in the review, there is very graphic violence (mostly as backstory) and rape as backstory. If either of those are triggering for you in any way, I suggest forgoing this book. If not, please read on. For those who may remember, I reviewed the first Blood Money book – Blamed – and I enjoyed … Continue reading Ripped by Edie Harris

Blamed by Edie Harris

Blamed

This book was an amazingly pleasant surprise and I lost track of the number of good book noises I made while reading it. I’m still getting my feet wet when it comes to romantic suspense, but I picked a good book to try out. It opens with the heroine post-torture. So I’d definitely issue a trigger warning for violence. Later on, there are some semi-graphic descriptions of said torture. Admittedly, dropping me into the middle of … Continue reading Blamed by Edie Harris

The Rec League: Virgin Heroes

The Rec League - heart shaped chocolate resting on the edge of a very old book

I was shocked – SHOCKED – when Reader Jessica left a comment about virgin hero recommendations and my deep dive through the SBTB archives turned up nothing. Of course, there are some obvious choices and probably a handful of lists on Goodreads, but personal recommendations of books you’ve loved and why go much further, don’t you think? Redheadedgirl: There’s a virgin hero in one of the stories in the Rogue Desire anthology . Amanda: Also…the … Continue reading The Rec League: Virgin Heroes

Whatcha Reading? December 2015 Edition

old book on the bench in autumn park

It’s time again for the Most Expensive Comment Thread of the month! Step one: cut a hole in a box. No, wait, that’s a different comment thread. Sorry. Trying again. Step one: We tell you what books we’re reading. Step two: have her open the box (sorry) You tell us what you’re reading! If you’re hiding in a box, that’s fine. Amanda once hid in a box for over a half hour to scare the … Continue reading Whatcha Reading? December 2015 Edition

Burnt Out vs. Moving On: Subgenres We Don’t Read As Much Anymore

old book on the bench in autumn park

Recently Amanda commented internally that she used to read a ton of historicals, but that she hadn’t reached for or even considered one for awhile. This got me thinking about genres that I used to adore and read like I was starving and had an unlimited supply of those chocolate covered fruit snacks from Brookside.  Figuring out what I used to read isn’t difficult; I’m packing up most of my possessions and donating at least … Continue reading Burnt Out vs. Moving On: Subgenres We Don’t Read As Much Anymore

Whatcha Reading? May 2015 Edition

Book with a field and a road on the pages against a blue cloudy sky

It’s time for our monthly thread of reader recommendation and discussion, where you tell us what you’re reading and we all buy a heaping ton of books because romance readers. Right? Right. I’ll start: I’m on a road trip this weekend, so the likelihood of my getting reading done is slim, because while it looks like there will be several hours on the road that might be used for reading, this is unrealistic and I … Continue reading Whatcha Reading? Like there’s such a thing has having too many books. PSHAW. I’m currently not reading a romance – SHOCKING I KNOW – but it’s finally spring and I’m about to go dive into my back yard and kiss every blade … Continue reading Whatcha Reading? April 2015 Edition
