Winterblaze by Kristen Callihan is $1.99! This is book three in the Darkest London series. I love this series! However, it wasn’t my favorite for a couple reasons, namely the tropes here aren’t my bag. This is a second chance romance with an estranged married couple. This book is available elsewhere, though I’m only seeing the sale price at Amazon.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is $1.99! This fantasy novel was everywhere when it came out and does seem to have romantic elements. While the setting captured readers’ attentions, some wished it had more emotional depth.

The Lady Has a Past is a really strong romantic thriller with mild paranormal elements that delivers on both the thriller and the romantic aspects of the story. Unfortunately, while I thoroughly enjoyed this story while I was reading it, I found myself increasingly troubled by certain aspects of the narrative once I began to reflect on the story in order to write this review. The story begins when apprentice PI and former socialite Lyra … Continue reading The Lady Has A Past by Amanda Quick →

Wilde in Love by Eloisa James is $1.99! This is the first book in The Wildes of Lindow Castle. Some readers DNF-ed this on Goodreads citing lack of chemistry between the characters or boredom. However, other fans of James were excited about this new series. Which camp are you in?

READER RECOMMENDED: And I Darken by Kiersten White is $1.99! We featured a review of this as part of our series Squee from the Keeper Shelf. Reader Fairywine really, really loved this book:
And I Darken utterly blew me away with how damn good it was, and it’s easily equal in quality to my other best favorites of 2016. This is a book that will challenge you, and surprise you, and give you things you didn’t even know you wanted in a book but actually did all along.

‘Til Death Do Us Part is a gothic Victorian romance that features a shrewd businesswoman and a scarred, brooding mystery novel author. There’s a creepy mansion, lots of feminism, and a plot that revolves around Victorian mourning customs. It had me at “tear catcher.” Calista runs an agency that introduces single people to each other in a series of salons held at her home. In order to keep the business thriving, she has to be … Continue reading ‘Til Death Do Us Part by Amanda Quick →

This month, we’re going Old Skool with our Book Club Pick, with Amanda Quick’s Scandal, one of the first romances I read. I remember seeing this one so clearly on the shelf and checking it out of the library multiple times. When I announced it last night at the book club chat with Jennifer Crusie, many people were most squeeful about it. This is going to be SO fun. Not familiar with Scandal? Here, be … Continue reading Sizzing Book Club Selection: Scandal by Amanda Quick →

Thanks to Jen B. for submitting this interesting take on rereading: This is very random, but I thought of a topic for the SBTB editors to bat around: I know you’ve done comfort reads and favorite re-reads, but does anyone have a book that you read at such a perfect time in your life that you won’t re-read it, because it will never be as good? I had just moved to a new state, the … Continue reading Which Books Gave You the Perfect One-Off Reading Experience? →
