2019 Gift Guide: More Etsy Wishlist Weirdness

Earlier this year, I talked about a few items from my Etsy wishlist. Some things were crafty, some were pretty, and one was especially weird. Well, I’m back with that same energy!

Is there a theme here? Definitely not. Just things I’ve stumbled across on Etsy that I would very much love to have if space and money were limitless.

Silver stud earrings stamped with a pizza design

Sterling Silver Pizza Earrings from Tesoro Jewelry ($20)

love pizza. Every year, my boyfriend treats me to a pepperoni and onion pizza from the best pizza place in the Boston area. (Spoiler: It’s Santarpio’s in East Boston.) At this point, pizza is integral to my identity. But if you aren’t a pizza fan, the shop has a huge selection of silver stamped jewelry and accessories.

Gold studs that look like raw blue geodes.

Faux Blue Druzy Earrings from Candy’s Kloset ($5)

These were added to my list after Shana mentioned this shop in a previous Gift Guide post. I’ve been in a jewel-tones mood lately and I love the “raw” look of these. Plus, the backs come in silver, gold, and bronze colors.

A blue magnetic bookmark with a cute sleepy raccoon on it.

Sleepy Raccoon Magnetic Bookmark from Fun Usual Suspects ($5.50)

I’m a reader who uses scraps of trash and old CVS receipts as bookmarks. It’s not a good look. Investing in quality bookmarks, though, is something I easily forget about when I’m in the  middle of reading. I love how big and sturdy this bookmark looks and the shop has a variety of adorable animals

A felt baguette cat toy filled with catnip.

Catnip Baguette Toy from Mini Tiger Design ($11.79)

Am I constantly fighting the urge to buy my cat toys he will sniff once and never interact with again? Yes, definitely. I think these little baguettes are so freaking adorable. The toy is made from soft felt and you can get your baguette in white or whole wheat.

A print of a hiker offering a apple to a bear with the text, "You are stronger and braver than you think. And more loved than you will ever know."

Strong and Brave Poster from Katy Pillinger Designs ($18.79)

The detail on this print is fantastic and there’s something about the quote that really gets to me: “You are stronger and braver than you think. And more loved than you will ever know.” The design is also available as a card and this shop has a seriously amazing card selection.

Handmade pastel mugs with 22 karat gold stars and handle

Pastel Galaxy Mug from Modern Mud ($88)

These handmade starry mugs are gorgeous and can be customized with a 22k gold handle, if that’s in your budget. They are definitely not microwave safe and I would personally be too scared to do anything but look at these mugs, but I think they’re a great accent piece for a workspace.

A trio of soaps designed to look like gemstones.

Set of 3 Mineral Gem Soaps from Anjoul Bliss ($33)

This shop has some pretty realistic looking gemstone soaps and, if you don’t want to commit to a full bar, this set is a great way to try three scents at one time. Are these too pretty to use? Maybe, but I’m so curious. Many of the reviews note that these make great gifts and look even better in person.

And now for my favorite part. I get to show you the weirdest thing I’ve recently added to my Esty wishlist. Last time, it was the Broccoli Sheep.

Now, I give you…

TOILET MOUSE!

A taxidermy white mouse sitting on a miniature toilet, reading a book.

Taxidermy Toilet Mouse (Books) from Haus of Mouse Taxidermy ($60.70)

First, let me say that the mice and other animals from the shop are ethically sourced and are not harmed for the purpose of taxidermy. I own some taxidermy, one of which is a lovely otter that died of natural causes while living at a refuge. If you’re in the Austin area and also have a love of taxidermy, I highly recommend visiting Uncommon Objects.

I love this little mouse and the cheekiness of it being on a toilet. It’s certainly a conversation piece.

Have you discovered something awesome on Etsy? Happy shopping!

If you like Uncommon Objects, let me also recommend Paxton Gate if you are ever in San Francisco. We discovered them while on an expedition to the Pirate Supply Store next door and spent a delightful afternoon exploring both shops.

    love the mugs

  3. Jennifer says:

I’m going to San Francisco this weekend. I have to figure out if I can swing by, especially the pirate shop. I didn’t even know that was a thing.

  4. Kareni says:

    Those mice are something else!

  5. Elise says:

I’m planning gifts for friends and romance bookclub members….give me all of these. Making infinity pocket scarves and looking for goodies to put inside. Buy all the things.

  6. Jill-Marie says:

I just bought all the raccoon bookmarks and asked if she could make more. Those are darling and I need them for the “thank you” bags I make up for the judges who come to the Jack Russell event I put on.

Also am intrigued by mineral gem soaps.

  7. Laura says:

For Texans, Carol Hicks Bolton in Fredericksburg has some delightful taxidermy, many in costumes. Also amazing collection of antiques and ephemera.
