Giveaway: Advanced Reader Copies of Heart on Fire by Amanda Bouchet

Heart on Fire
A | BN | AB
As promised in our Heart on Fire chapter one reveal last month, we now have a giveaway for the conclusion to the Kingmaker Chronicles!

Heart on Fire by Amanda Bouchet releases on January 2, 2018 and is the final book in the Kingmaker Chronicles trilogy. But we have five ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) to give to five lucky readers!

And if you’re curious (like me, I admit) you can follow Amanda on Facebook to get details her next writing project.

I really loved the first book in this series, A Promise of Fire, to which I gave an A grade. What I enjoyed so much about the book is how Cat is an anti-heroine. It’s a great role reversal. She’s tortured and broody and doesn’t always make the purest choices. The hero is her salve and he’s been chosen to help her heal, rather than the usual other way around. I also highly recommend the books for nerds of Greek mythology. I suggest reading through the comments on my review as well to get a broader look at how other readers felt about the book.

If you’re looking to start the series, A Promise of Fire ( A | BN | K | G | AB ) is currently available for less than $3, as is its sequel, Breath of Fire ( A | BN | AB ).

We want to thank the Sourcebooks Casablanca team for providing 5 ARCs to give away to our readers. Thanks, Sourcebooks!

To enter, just leave a comment telling us the ideal way you’d want to enjoy Heart on Fire! A readathon with friends? A comfy blanket and a glass of wine? In a hammock on a sunny beach somewhere?

Standard disclaimers apply: Open to US and Canadian readers. Crying is always allowed when a series ends. Please, no practicing of fire magic indoors. And should any of you become a ruler of a magical kingdom, be sure to mind your manners and pick out a badass crown. Comments will close Friday 8 December and the winners announced shortly afterward.

Good luck, everyone!

  1. Nuance Bryant says:

The absolute best way to read it would be out on Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire in the summertime, on a plastic floating lounger, attached by a line to a boat so I don’t drift away. There’s a bottle holder in one of the arms, that holds a bottle of moscato for me to sip from (who needs a cup when you’re not sharing?) and a bag of macarons to snack on while I read. I’ll float in the warm sun, sometimes tugging myself over to the boat for a bottle of water or something more substantial to eat, my fingers and toes drifting in the cool lake water, and read until the sun goes down.

  2. Maegan Yoder says:

I plan on being reading this while curled up with my dog, a soft blanket, and a glass of wine! I can’t wait to revisit Cat!

Definitely in bed. Preferably during the week my kids are on vacation at their grandmother’s.

  4. Alyssa says:

In bed on the weekend, always

  5. Christina says:

I’d read this on my couch with a blanket and a cat.

  6. Mel says:

In bed with my kitty purring beside me and maybe sleeping and doing that adorable sleepy cat toes flex whenever I need to look up from the book for a full breath. Maybe a glass of wine and some grapes and cheese to accompany it.

  7. Natasha says:

On the couch, snuggling under my soft blanket

  8. SandyL says:

on the couch with the tv off and no other time commitments!

  9. Caitlin says:

Honestly? Any way, as long as it’s soon! (I’m so excited for this book)

But seriously, it would be great to read this on the couch, under a pile of blankets, with hot coffee and shortbread and my dog at my side

  10. Gigi says:

I’m celebrating my 40th birthday by going on a cruise at the end of the month. So I’d say on relaxing on the lido deck with a delicious fruity drink.

  11. Cat C says:

Curled up in bed, under a lot of blankets

  12. Cat says:

I would love to read Heart on Fire content in the knowledge that I’m not going the Bad Decision Book Club while I have mountains of work to do during finals season…..Soon!

  13. Tricia says:

Snuggled up on the couch with a cat and a mug of apple cider!

  14. SandyH says:

On the couch with a fire going and soft music playing.

  15. Heather Greye says:

The release date is one of my last days off for winter break, so it would be a readathon on the couch. With tea or hot chocolate.

Who am I kidding? This is my dream reading for most books.

  16. Jill says:

I’d read this in a hammock under the pine trees. When I take a break to marvel at what a kickin author Amanda Bouchet is, the green of the pines sets off the brilliant blue of the sky.

  17. Michelle says:

I have been waiting for this book since last winter, when I read the first two without realizing I’d have to wait a full YEAR for the conclusion, so I’ll probably read the entire book in the way I like best: in one go, snuggled in bed, late into the night, aware that I will struggle to get up for work the next day but not caring at all. And then I’ll pick a weekend to read all three in a row and really luxuriate in them.

  18. Chris says:

Just picture this. Me all alone. Nothing else waiting for me to get to it. Coffee and snacks at the ready. Blankets and pillows available for the many positions of reading yoga. Easy access to the bathroom. The most important part? No family to interrupt. Then, I can sit down and read all 3 of them!

  19. Anna N says:

All alone with a cup of tea!!!!

  20. Alex says:

Under a pile of blankets with a pot of tea next to me!! And maybe some holiday cookies too 🙂

  21. Miss_Malapert says:

The perfect place to read this would be on my chaise with a blanket, my cats and a cup of hot cocoa!

  22. Leah Wheatley says:

I plan on reading this book where it’s peace and quiet, and having absolutely nothing else to do. On my couch, with a blanket, and post-Christmas cookies!

  23. Kate says:

In bed with my dog, reading as slowly as possible to make it last!

  24. Kimberly B. says:

I would love to enjoy it relaxing on an island in the Mediterranean, recovering after I just got back from mermaid school. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  25. lorenet says:

With a comfy blanket and a glass of red wine.

  26. Marie says:

Recently single and still getting used to those lonely hours between 10pm and 4am – That’s when I’ll be reading this. I need more screwed up badass heroines in my life!

  27. Christine says:

I’m hoping Santa will bring me a new Kindle Paperwhite and Amazon gift cards to buy new books to enjoy after the holidays. My ideal reading spot for this book would be discovering a new local coffee place with cozy seats and endless matcha lattes.

  28. M L says:

The best way to enjoy this book is in my favorite coffee shop with music in the background, totally absorbed in the book

  29. Diana says:

I would read it on the couch, afternoon into evening, ignoring my family the entire time (a good book takes precedence!). I’d read it quickly the first time and then a slow second read to get the full experience!

  30. Cerulean says:

Perfect: in my library while it’s gently raining outside, with the Christmas lights twinkling. I’d be on my comfy chair with a large cuppa tea and a blanket. The reading would shortly be followed by listening to the audiobook. Then probably back to re-reading the series, followed by more audiobook love.

  31. Barby Biggs says:

The wait has been killing me. The first read of this book will be a reading marathon. Once I pick it up my husband and kids need to be ready to fend for themselves lol. Mom’s going on a readcation :). The second reading would be best with a warm blanket and a cozy fire.

  32. Sue the Non-Practicing Librarian says:

We swap these around my Romance Book Discussion Group, meeting for lunch to pass the copy on to the next lucky reader!

  33. Nicole Burton says:

Ideally any way reading Heart on Fire would be the best way, because that means I’d be finally reading it! But if it came with a nice beach, comfy lounge chair, and a stiff drink, I would think that I’ve died and gone to heaven!

  34. Ideally? The audio edition. Then I don’t have to stop to do things. (And vision problems make print tough to decipher.)

  35. L says:

In front of the fireplace at my parents house over the Christmas holiday. Wine and sponge candy (it’s a western NY thing, google it, it’s delicious!) next to me, dog on my feet!

  36. I’m going to Australia over Christmas, so maybe I’d enjoy Heart on Fire on a gorgeous Australian beach!

  37. Karen W. says:

Just sitting on my bed all comfy with some chocolate & my cat next to me. 🙂

  38. Lynnd says:

On the couch with a mug of hot chocolate.

  39. jas says:

Curled up in my favorite reading chair with a pot of tea on a rainy weekend day.

  40. Elizabeth says:

In bed, maybe with noise-cancelling headphones on to drown out my noisy house.
