It’s Whatcha Reading! Here’s how we’re kicking off June:
Elyse: I’m reading The Iron Garden Sutra by A.D. Sui. ( A | BN | K | AB ) It’s a sci-fi locked room mystery with a monk as a protagonist and I’m really enjoying it.
Sarah: I just started The Parisian Heist by Jo Piazza, ( A | BN | K | AB ) as in, I’m 2% into the book.
Claudia: I’m just finished Dearest Beast by Felicia Grossman. Suffer-no-fools “unlikeable” heroine is the “beast” in this retelling.
Shana: I’m continuing to burn through the Rivers of London series. And I just started Flirting Lessons by Jasmine Guillory. ( A | BN | K | AB )
Lara: I enjoyed Dearest Beast, but the retelling aspect passed me by. Didn’t notice it at all.
I’m slowly working my way through Candice Proctor’s historical romances. The last one I read (The Last Knight) ( A ) needs all the warnings for violence and brutality. She’s so good at making it all feel so real and believable that the brutality got to me.Tara: I’m reading The Whole Truth by Haley Cass ( A ) and I’m loving it. Enemies to lovers with two closeted country music stars who agree that a casual arrangement could be beneficial.
Amanda: I just finished Broken Breath by Blake Black. ( A ) It’s a Why Choose romance set in the downhill racing circuit. The heroine poses as a man to get revenge for a crash seven years earlier that left her near death. It ends on a cliffhanger, but wasn’t bad, even if what feels like the primary love interest isn’t my bag.
Susan: I’m a volume and a half into My Fiancé Cheated But a New Love Rings, ( A | BN | K | AB ) and so far it’s very silly! It’s your standard “woman finds out her idiotic royal fiancé is cheating on her” premise, but this time her bodyguard instantly offers to help her fake her own death. … The two leads spend a lot of time flapping about how adorable the other one with is. It’s kinda cute.
