Tourist Season by Brynne Weaver is $1.99! This is book one in a new series. It came out last year and I mentioned it on Hide Your Wallet. I do love Weaver’s blend of dark humor and romance, but often find the pacing to be a bit lopsided in her romances. What do you think?

On the Edge by Ilona Andrews is $1.99! This is the first book in The Edge urban fantasy series and, I think, it’s the only series I haven’t read by Andrews. As usual for Andrews, the world building is great, though some readers said it took them longer to connect with the characters than in Andrews other series.
Rose Drayton lives on the Edge, between the world of the Broken (where people drive cars, shop at Wal-Mart, and magic is a fairy tale) and the Weird (where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny). Only Edgers like Rose can easily travel from one world to the next, but they never truly belong in either.
Rose thought if she practiced her magic, she could build a better life for herself. But things didn’t turn out how she planned, and now she works a minimum wage, off the books job in the Broken just to survive. Then Declan Camarine, a blueblood noble straight out of the deepest part of the Weird, comes into her life, determined to have her (and her power).
But when a terrible danger invades the Edge from the Weird, a flood of creatures hungry for magic, Declan and Rose must work together to destroy them—or they’ll devour the Edge and everyone in it.

Do Your Worst by Rosie Danan is $2.99! Lara was middling on this paranormal romance and gave it a C-. I enjoyed Danan’s contemporaries so I remember looking forward to this one. Did you read it?

So, my initial glance at the cover of “Never Been Shipped”, I thought the guy was leaning in the window and the guitar was kind of help holding him in place. Like he’s just dangling from the porthole window and is about to fall back in if she lets go (or without his guitar). Is he a merman? A rockstar merman? Like a gender flipped and contemporary-set “Little Mermaid”.
On the Edge is great! It’s a bit of a dark series and gets progressively darker. Each of the four books follows a different couple so it’s structured more like a traditional romance series. It’s very action packed, super fantastic world building, but the bad guys are truly dark. There are characters that start in this series that show up in The Innkeeper Chronicles.
Oh I loved the innkeeper chronicles up until that one book that
Spoiler alert! (I know there’s a way to hide spoilers but I can’t find it)
Had the baby inn being born and then die. I bawled SO hard at that and still do when I think back to that part. Haven’t had the courage to finish the book nor did I pick up the next part. But they are very well written and were fun reads otherwise.
What a coincidence. About five minutes before opening this email I returned the audio version of Tourist Season two thirds of the way through. It was so repetitive. I hit the point where I didn’t care who did it or who it was done to or how much blood was spilled or where the body parts were buried.
Until I read Ilona Andrews’ recent book The Inheritance, On the Edge was my favorite by the authors. (Admittedly, I found the remainder of The Edge series a tad dark for my taste.)
