Web cams aren’t technically videos so much as they are live streams, but I love them and wanted to share a few of my favorites.
Also: did you know the first live stream cam was about coffee?
The first webcam was the Trojan Room coffee pot at the University of Cambridge computer lab in the UK, and was created in 1991.
1991!
The camera was set up purely to monitor the amount inside the coffee pot because obviously it was because that’s vital info, and was later made available to the entire internet in 1993.
Remember when everything looked like this?
Ah, the 90s internet, when you could have whatever color you wanted as long as it was grey and black.
Nowadays, I love looking at different webcams of animal habitats to see what they’re up to.
NB: I’m using screenshots because I can’t embed all the live stream images. So click the image for the live view.
Meerkats at the Miami Zoo?
Sometimes you can watch the giraffes at the San Diego Zoo!
Or have a visit with Qing Bao and Bao Li, the pandas at the Smithsonian National Zoo:
I think the image above is of Qing Bao.
Elephants? ABSOLUTELY YES.
Also otters at the Seattle Aquarium:
Or, if you like underwater cams, how about the sharks at the Monterey Bay Aquarium?
Sometimes when I’m on a Pomodoro-mandated break, I try to find web cams of every animal I can think of.
What about you? What webcams do you love to visit?
May your weekend be full of unique things to look at!
