Every now and again, I remember this video.
Well, sort of. Specifically I remember to sing and dance to it across the kitchen at inopportune moments.
I also love silly videos featuring game characters and screen recordings. It’s one of my favorite subgenres, even if I have NO idea which game it is (I know which game this is).
Do you have any fave video game clips or parodies? Please do share in the comments – these threads are freaking delightful because we all have similar senses of humor. Which makes sense.
Happy Friday! PWN Your Weekend!

OMG, I used to show this very video to my twins when they were little, they thought it was hysterical! They graduate college this year…
I have a fave game video, but it is not funny, just nostalgic. I don’t expect anyone else to enjoy this, but if someone does I’ll be very excited.
I’m not a gamer these days, but when I was in grade school I played games endlessly on my dad’s Commodore 64. My favorite was Jumpman. One day I randomly thought to search Youtube and found videos of people playing the entire 30 levels. I sat and watched the whole thing and as each one appeared, it was like a birthday present of memories.
Level 30 was especially exciting because I had seen it only once: basically, the game was written so that the only way to reach level 30 was by passing level 29 (if you chose random play, level 30 never appeared). But level 29 was impossibly hard. One day, my dad went into the game code and changed the number of “lives” to never run out; so I was able to keep playing level 29 until I finally got through it, and I finally saw level 30. (I always think of this in the end of “Wreck It Ralph” when the villain enters the game code and tinkers with it.)
If anyone wants to watch 30 minutes of 1983 digital animation, here ya go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ut3LFdJS_lk
Thank you for this. What a delight on a rainy evening.
When I think of video game animation (machinima), the one that I saw the most of was Red Vs Blue by Rooster Teeth Animation. I promise it eventually develops an interesting story line, but I honestly don’t know if I’d have the patience to get to it if I started watching it today. (I probably wouldn’t have gotten to it then, but my SO loved it.)
All Your Base Are Belong To Us is a bizarre time capsule of video game sounds, techno beat, and so much terrible Photoshop.
I love Portal’s closing credits which features Still Alive by Jonathan Coulton and performed by the actor who voiced GLaDOS.
