It’s a bit of a love triangle, which I didn’t love (since I don’t think the main character will end up with my fave) and felt she had more personality with one love interest than the other.

Oddly, I had similar problems with both REBEL and ELECTRIC IDOL which is that the bones are generally good but the writing is often pretty stilted. ELECTRIC IDOL in particular has a lot of short declarative sentence and super short paragraphs that just read as really choppy to me. If the premise of either appeals, I would recommend them both with the caveat that neither is the best prose you’ll ever read.

I went into Kiss of the Basilisk having just read the blurb and after ten chapters, I had to DNF it – it was making me too angry. Happy for the people who loved it, but I ended up wanting so much more world-building and more of an interior personality for Tem (i.e. who was she when she wasn’t with another character).
