What a week it’s been. It’s been crawling by, mainly because of the allergies. Thank you all for your kind words last week about my potential dress and my complicated Disney feelings. It’s been a interesting thing to work through with my therapist in regards to the ways I get to experience things that felt off-limits to me as a kid.
Have any of you experience something similar?

PC Gamer interviewed Eric Barone/ConcernedApe, the creator of Stardew Valley. One thing that that surprised Barone was all the Pierre hate.

A reporter at The Atlantic discussed his journey to loving the UK show Taskmaster. I feel like I’ve seen fans of the show in the comments. This one may be behind a paywall.

I’m not a big ASMR listener, so I have no clue why YouTube thought to show this in my algorithm. It’s a QVC inspired ASMR video and I found it hilarious. The channel really nails the home shopping host voice.

I feel you, Amanda. My parents wouldn’t let me watch a Disney movie without an intensive lecture about history and racism and capitalism followed by an equally exhausting debrief about toxic romantic models and feminism. Each. Time. And it’s not that they were incorrect but wow does it suck the joy out of the thing, and yes, has left me with all sorts of questions about how concepts like fun are meant to work.
Also similarly but different, having grown up without healthcare has left me feeling like seeing a Doctor is off limits even now.
TaskMaster! The family are fans of the show. My daughter got hooked in college & nudged me towards it. Some Seasons shine more than others, but there is always Alex at the core.
I never saw Disney movies that weren’t shown on the Wonderful World of Disney until I was an adult. The Disney Princess wasn’t a thing for older GenX. We had books, a few hard plastic characters, and not much else. My parents didn’t take us to Disney.
However, with the way Disney Princesses exploded in the 90s forward, I can understand if it was denied and how that would make a young girl have feelings over it. My niece/goddaughter went to WDW for her honeymoon and loved it. I bought her a Belle Loungefly backpack, a Belle mini bag, and a Disney gift card for her bridal shower. Book girl princess. She received some other Disney things from others, too.
Go and enjoy!
