Welcome back to Cover Snark!

Sarah: This is both neat and also awkwardly posed?
Kiki: I love the idea of this cover, but it is just so obvious that these two people are not organically in the same photo
They’re looking beyond each other?
Sarah: They’re touching but don’t seem to be connected.
Tara: It’s giving more “Okay, okay. Don’t look, but did you see that person? I said don’t look! Her dress is TERRIBLE.”
Sarah: I SAID DON’T LOOK OMG Carole.
Tara: Typical Carole…
Sarah: Or maybe the blonde with the lovely curls is like, *Look at me, no not at her she’s terrible and wrong, look at me. See here? Your dress is fabulous. Don’t listen to her she’s terrible.”
Tara: I like this version very much!

Amanda: 1. That’s Katy Perry
2. What if instead of a devil on your shoulder, you had a cat lady?
Tara: I know we usually talk about the visuals, but that description on there is bonkers.
Emily Taylor loves to help people, loves to ease their burdens and make their dreams come true. But when a conman ruins her reputation, she discovers that helping others is safer and easier from behind the scenes. When one of Emily’s gifts captures the attention of an avid journalist, her identity as the town’s anonymous benefactor-and her renewed relationship with her high school sweetheart-are threatened. As her private life begins to unravel, she realizes the one hope for regaining control lies behind prison walls.
Sarah: Prison as a plot device in a rom com is…something.
Maya: Honestly the part that always makes me nuts about prison stuff is that they always get some of the most obvious things wrong. I had to bail on one that kept calling the SHU ( secured housing unit in California state prisons), the shoe. I just can’t unsee that. And yeah, it’s hard for me to see any trip through the criminal justice system as a lighthearted, hilarious romp. Unless they keep saying someone just got sent to the shoe.
Claudia: Someone watched an episode of Orange is the New Black and really didn’t go back to check.
Sarah: Also yes that really does look like Katy Perry.

From MegCat: Where are the lower halves of their bodies? Is that what he’s looking for and why she’s rolling her eyes?
Sarah: The light on that planet made me think that was her leg and she is half stone.
Lara: His pecs seem to be very different shapes or is the baby-oil-lighting that’s tricking me?
Elyse: Why so shiny?
Amanda: Now I have Shiny from Moana stuck in my head.

From Lils: Each title in this series has three sizes of font. Including one with curlicues!
Amanda: Aggressive nipple alert.
Elyse: they really missed an opportunity to have the nipples dot the i’s
Sarah: Wait, is one of his nipples named “Oz?” Which one?
Tara: Probably the one pointing towards the word.

‘The Duke’s Sister and I‘??? Also what is going on with the brunette’s right shoulder? Where is it?
‘The Cat Lady’s Secret’ is clearly that she has bred a giant breed of house cats, that kitten looks enormous for it’s apparent age. And if you are going to put your polished nail to your lips you really should make sure the colours either match or contrast, otherwise it just looks like you didn’t make the effort, especially if you wear yet another shade of pink sunglasses.
I can’t work out what’s at the top of the cover of ‘The Perfect Creation’, is it the surface of another planet? The roof of an oddly well lit cave? Why has it got nipples? Stone doesn’t usually have nipples.
I am so confused. What the hell is the cat lady doing on the cover? Is she representing those whom the MC has helped? Or is she the alter ego of the MC? Or the rekindled love interest? It’s mind-boggling
Got a good laugh out of your review of Oz book. Keep at it!
The late, great Olivia Goldsmith had a women in jail novel, Pen Pals. It was also a bit bonkers and madcap for a women in jail novel.
The Cat Lady’s Secret’s Amazon page classifies it as Christian Fiction along with Romance, which frankly raises even more questions with that synopsis.
:: whine ::
I don’t understand “The Perfect Creation Creations”. Which part is the series title? Or are there three components–The Perfect / Creations / Creation–reflecting multiple series under a shared-universe umbrella?
:: I’m so confused ::
Biting Oz: pencil erasers or nipples? You decide.
@Louise
“Creations” seems to be the series name and “Perfect Creation” is the book title.
@SBSarah: for the last few days, whenever I open STSB on my phone (and then at random times while I’m on the site), a full-screen ad for Intel pops up. Sometimes I can close it using the X button, but other times I have to leave the site and swipe up to close out the ad. I’m so tired of seeing that woman holding her Intel Pro.
@DDD ironically, it popped up just as I was coming here to say “me too”. Except I could never figure out what it was an ad for.
Thank you for the heads up about the annoying ad on mobile! I’ve reached out to have it taken down. I’m told you should be able to scroll up to get rid of it, but that doesn’t seem to be working for y’all. I’m really sorry about that, and I’m working on it.
The older cat lady looks a bit like a mashup of Olympia Dukakis and Bea Arthur.
Katie Perry? or Randy Rainbow?
That Perfect Creation? Is made of liver.
I had no idea Australia’s deadly wildlife included nipple-biting vamps.
Now I also have “Shiny” from Moana stuck in my head. But hey, Jemaine Clement challenging Bowie is a trillion times hotter than that “Perfect Creations” dumpster fire.
“Perfect Crustaceans”…?
I know I’m late to post this… but why is shiny purple girls elbow down next to her hip. Like her arm is way, way too long. Unless she’s an alien. Of a different species than the dude, whose elbow is correctly about at the end of his rib cage.
Ok, the Intel woman and her laptop should be gone. Sorry about that, and thank you for letting me know!
This should be next up for Cover Snark: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DNFQH6YX
